April morning view

I walked out my kitchen door, across the road and up on this hillside that is across from my house, with my backpack and a tri-pod. I want to begin for the year, practising my Plein-air and see some improvemnt! I use pastels, and this morning I used a sample piece of Uart, its 7 by 12 " - - -I became very interested in the colors of ligh that was in that morning sky!! Amazing, really. The sky-blue was so light because there seemed to be so much light from the sun coming across these mt.s----have you seen that? I can't wait untill tommarrow to go again!!! I would never get anything done in the kitchen with a view like that, Ida. Nice job with morning light! It's intense, isn't it? I hope you get to go out again soon!

Thanks Donna, I was later than I wanted to be--this was 9:30 to about 10:45----and right on top of a hill, looking north. So no shadows were really appaerent , and I wish they had been---I really need to be getting up and out that door earlier! The sky is brilliant in the mornings, and always different. Some times the mountains look as if they have an orange or reddish line over them right where they kiss the sky - - -it vibrates! You see so much when you get out there!

The morning is my favorite time of day. I'm usually up before the sun, which makes waiting for stores to open difficult LOL. I have never tried to paint those 15 or so minutes as the sun bursts though but I've photographed it hundreds of times. Someday I'd like to try it when I can paint better.
