Re: glue crackle
I like the texture in the white glue test. It looks like an old fence post. Did you put the paint on straight down/up or twist it to make it twirl like wood grain?

Re: glue crackle
The brush stroke will, to a degree, determine the "grain" of the crackle.

Re: glue crackle
You inspired me to open my jar of crackle paste and try wet-on-wet. I mixed up crackle paste, glazing medium and a little naphthol red fluid and smeared it on a gessoed board with a knife. I then painted on some fluid interference blue while the first layer was still wet. Still drying, but so far not nearly as exciting as your glue effect (after an hour of drying time). I tried different thicknesses of the crackle paste layer and even did a on canvas mixing of the two layers for part of the experiment for completeness.

Re: glue crackle
Don't distress yet, crackle paste can take days to show signs of cracking.

Re: glue crackle
Made a video today for You Tube and these are the results.
It even includes crackle paste.
the techniques
Perfetto 2 part crackle medium
white glue crackle
one step crackle
gum arabic crackle and
crackle paste
not necessarily in that order.

Re: glue crackle
worked for me. very helpful. does the golden crackle paste break off the surface, I've heard it's not so good on canvas.

Re: glue crackle
Unless sealed on the surface, it can separate from the surface. At least that is my experience. Not one of my favorite products.
