I think I will limit the tutorial to just cat eyes. If I go into long hair I'll have to cover short hair, beards, white hair, gray hair ... etc etc etc ... it can snowball. As it is just explaining my method and reasoning with cat eyes is going to take a number of pages and quite a few illustrations. Just like my methods .. it won't be for everyone and many will find it doesn't work for them. But I still hope everyone who draws cats can pick up something of value from it. We'll see.
Long hair is really pretty easy but then all hair is fairly simple if you turn off your brain which is telling you how hard and impossible it is.
Just take it in small sections and draw what you see ... this is one of my first serious portraits ...
Of course some hair is more difficult than others ... but just take it a small section at a time and don't get overwhelmed. Keep a stick eraser handy and make sure no paper shows through the head ... otherwise everything looks translucent.
