Oh Lord, I tell you it's just not natural. It's 7:30 a.m. right now, and the ONLY reason I'm up is I have an appointment today. I'm not and never will be happy about it. It's just not normal. Oh well. It takes all kinds, I suppose. And if hubby gets on my nerves too much with being retired, he can always work the breakfast shift at McDonald's. (McDonald's is fine because I never eat there.) I much prefer late nights, myself. Midnight and after are my most creative times. Alas, I must adhere to a somewhat "normal" schedule as I haven't convinced my teenage son yet that he doesn't have to get up early in the morning since school starts whenever *I* say it does. (He's another natural morning person.) But just you wait! When the kid goes off to college and I'm no longer responsible for making sure he gets educated each day! Then! Then I'll sleep late and stay up even later, and then you'll REALLY see the creativity flowing! Mwahahaha!
Oh, ugh, after that, I need to go back to bed. Oh well. Still great finish Ken. Can hardly wait for the eye tutorial, but I know I must be patient. Another trait that needs working on.

You folk are odd. Kelli, I'm with you on this one. I'm also very cheerful 0330 but only if it's before I go to bed and not after . I'm up 0630 on Mondays because I have yoga class at 0700 and my day is ruined . Today I started looking for an afternoon class . 1730

Great finish, Ken. I hope the graphite bug has bitten again.

Re: Back again .... Finished
Being up till all hours of the night isn't natural either. Throughout the 70s I played music professionally in a road band. Our typical day started with us driving in a van till we reached the next town. Then it was off to the club to unload, setup and pull a sound check. Then off to the motel to get a nap and something to eat if we had money. About 6 pm we'd get ready and head to the club - gigs were often 8-2 in those days and 8-3 on weekends. After the gig we'd load the vans again, climb in and take turns driving to the next town. Almost no sleep in those days unless we got lucky and stayed in one town for a few days.
Those days were a lot of fun but I think they would kill me now at my advanced years. The military is all about discipline and consistency .. I suppose my body needed that because once I adjusted, I haven't been able to stop. I worked for a retired sergeant major repairing electronics some time ago. The place where we worked got to being very uncomfortable in the afternoons .. so we decided to work from 4AM-noon which was fine with both of us as we were up early anyway.
And just look at the number of words you've written in this thread! You should be so proud ... I'm such a bad influence ...

Thanks Michael. I don't know if it's taken a bite out of me yet or not ... the next one will probably be a better litmus test.

Re: Back again .... Finished
Fantastic finish, Ken! So looking forward to the tutorial!!
I have to say, I'm with Ariannah... useless before 9 a.m.
Like Michael - I tried early morning work outs. I was almost asleep at my desk by 11.30 and the workouts were useless too. Much better to work out at lunch time or after work.
Funny thing, hubby is a morning person and is usually asleep by 11 pm. I can stay up till 3 no prob!

Thanks Gerri. I hit the rack at about 9pm these days. No point in being up if the sun isn't you know. I tend to keep farmer's hours I guess.

It's the lack of consistent sleep that's not normal. I think some people just have different sleep schedules than others. I still get 8-10 hours' sleep; I just prefer that sleep to come between the hours of 3 a.m. and noonish. But, like I said, I have yet to convince my morning child of the virtues of late nights, so I have to conform to a more "normal" schedule. Except for my insomniac nights, I'm asleep by 11 and up by 8 or 8:30 most days. Still can't wait till the kid's off to college, and I can resume sleeping till noon.

Oh, and thanks for reminding me, Ken. Now I think I'm going to go hide somewhere until people stop looking at me. You ARE a bad influence. Very bad at that. But I forgive you. You morning people often can't seem to help yourselves.

I'm so glad you finished this drawing, Ken. It is beautiful and you really got the fluid, liquid look of the eyes so right. Great as always!

Thanks Pam. I know most of my threads are full of nonsense posts but I hope a certain amount of useful information still comes through. Enough people have asked and commented about my cat eyes that I am going to do a tutorial thread about my methods and why. It's going to take awhile to put together but I'm not going to post it as a partial thing ... I will wait until it's complete. I'm at the point of organizing my thoughts at this time but it will take a couple weeks to complete I think. It will even include some lessons learned in Photoshop and how they can be applied to drawing.
