Untitled Leopard - WIP
Reference photo from Tambako on Flickr.
8x10
My first attempt at color. (it's scary!) Highly diluted Ampersand inks, and lots of layers.
I scratched and colored the eyes first. Didn't want to mess up the board with a coloring disaster AFTER I had finished scratching. Still trying to get the hang of mixing the colors, but I've got these to a point that I felt comfortable continuing the scratching. I'll continue to play with the color on the eyes. And may get brave enough to add coloring to the fur.
I wanted to try an unusual crop, as if the leopard was just coming into view. I'm thinking the eyes might be too close to the edge of the board, but I'm liking this so far.

Re: Untitled Leopard - WIP
Really good job on the eyes. I guess when it's more finished we'll see if the crop works. However, it's always worth pushing the boundaries.

Re: Untitled Leopard - WIP
For the first in color, you sure nailed it in a hurry! Those eyes are fantastic! Just start with a dilute on the rest of the guy and you will have it made.

Re: Untitled Leopard - WIP
I like the crop...it will depend on how you frame it, if the eyes are too close to the edge or not. Beautiful job on those eyes, both scratching and coloring.
