Abstract fish...

I just finished up these two 6"x6" boards and they are off to the gallery, riding their little black mini easels. They represent Caribbean fish seen around our reefs. I'd created a whole series some years back but they were linocuts, not scratched. I really like how SB makes them so much more dramatic and also the fact they aren't framed.

'Copperbanded Butterfly'

'Young Angel'

I've got several requests to do more but need to order more 6x6 boards. These are kind of mindless scratching and, once the design is on the board, it makes for 'TV scratching'...

OMG... larger than life remember the boards are 6x6 and not 8x8

Re: Abstract fish...

Thanks, Harry and Patrick... Yes, I thought about doing these with the FB tool but really like the scratches... but so time-consuming for something so simple, thank goodness for mindless violence on TV. Doing these I can sit in the same room with my husband but don't have to watch the phoney gore.

Re: Abstract fish...

These are great Diane, and would make a good pair to display together.

Re: Abstract fish...

I do a lot of "tv scratching" myself. My couch is my "secondary studio".

These fish are really cool, Diane!!

Re: Abstract fish...

Margaret... I thought about getting a 6"x12" frame and having them facing each other. I might do that with the next ones.

Angela... I know these are very colorful fish but, in designing them, I wanted to keep their markings to something that fish counters a la the Reef Project would immediately say ... ah, yes, that's definitely a Copperbanded Butterfly.

Ann, so nice that we can have several 'studios' throughout the house. I love the portability of SB, especially since I'm needing a press or easel most often with my other art. So little mess... heaven!

Re: Abstract fish...

Fun! I do think you made a good choice. The FB tool would not have looked as good, IMHO.
