WDE Late April 6th- Abstract Still life-NOW FINISHED!

This is definitely In Progress and will look different when done.

As some of you well know, I hate painting flowers and still lifes. I greatly admire the skills of those that do them, they just aren't my thing. However, I really appreciated that Mary and her painting group spent a whole day setting up gorgeous shots of still lifes, something I never remember to do when I host. So, this is my convoluted effort.

30" X 30" mixed media on canvas; acrylics, interference metalics, wc's, torn papers, white-out (for the lettering) and I am planning on adding some other materials. More work on the flowers, fruit and writing to come. The first photo was daylight and much truer colors. Second photo is awful night photography, everything has a yellow/harsh cast. Hope to finish tomorrow and photograph in daylight.

Timing on these kind of pieces is wierd because I have to wait for each wash , gluing, or layer to dry completely. Total (so far) is probably 3 hours over a 6 hour period.

Thanks again for hosting Mary!

Li

I agree with Connie - I also like the whole concept of this - as well as the execution!

Outstanding, Li. Love the palette and the composition. Excellent idea and the lilies in the blue square fit exactly. Looking forward to the completion of this.

Re: Late April 6th- Abstract Still life-Definite WIP!!!

I love this and that is saying a lot for me. There was a time when I thought I would never appreciate a painting if it was not totally realistic, but I do and this one reminds me of the cross. It may not be what you had in mind when you started painting it, but Easter and what it stands for to me is what I see when I look at this beautiful painting. It brings tears to my eyes. I agree you could stop right here but I will be back to see what you add to it. Thanks for doing it and going outside the box on this one.

These are great. There's nothing wrong that I can see with the second photo. I love this layered, scrapbook look.

Cool work, and no kidding that the timing is difficult to estimate.
