Hi maryinasia (is it Mary?) ---
I think these are lovely wc sketches/paintings. Actually #2 is my favorite of the three you have shown...the reason being I particularly like the dark clouds. They do, however, compete a little bit for attention. You could probably crop several different ways...one like you have indicated but then I would be sorry not to see at all the wonderful clouds you have rendered. I think showing even just a little of the dark bottom of the cloud closest to the rest of the composition would still give a good effect. The dark cloud helps to add depth to the scene. Another approach "might" be to add a darker shadow area in the ground work...trees/ ground/etc to reduce the dark cloud competition for attention. All this aside...it is still a nice wc the way it is. I am always trying to learn from my work and make the next painting better...yours gives a lot of feeling for the time/place when and where you did it. If you want to try to improve it go ahead or enjoy it the way it is which mught be what I would suggest...at least for a while until you have had more time to digest what it is you want to say with the painting.

Steve

Re: some recent watercolors --cc enjoyed

thanks! I like your suggestions, esp of leaving part of the dark bottom cloud in the crop.
