Floor Stories
Here's a new painting, acrylic on canvas. It's 48in x 36in. I'm considering doing a small series based on this idea. Comments & Criticism welcome.

Re: Floor Stories
Thank-you Idylbrush, Rastermon, Bertoni, BettiePage & Charlie's Mum. In the past I mainly concentrated on landscapes, going through several different phases - fauvism oriented, traditional, fantasy oriented, semi-abstracted, etc. I still enjoy painting landscapes, and also contemporary figures. I love discovering unique bits of texture in something very ordinary. I was on a corporate photo shoot in the back receiving area of a store when I saw how beat up & worn out the floor was in various places. I got excited because I knew this had to become an abstract painting. I quickly shot some reference photos from various angles and back at my studio I sketched out some studies, incorporating the best elements. Instead of black I used burnt umber, ultramarine blue & a mixture of violets. I always do under painting with several colors and I almost always allow some complimentary color to show through in selected areas. I am looking forward to beginning my next one this weekend. Thanks again for your support!

Re: Floor Stories
This is the first abstract I have seen in a long while where I felt, wow, wonderful, this shows when abstract painting works successfully. Strong painting, good use of color, layering and textures. No crits.

Re: Floor Stories
Nicely done Ivon, what a wonderful abstract, doing a series of these would be an excellent idea.

That's really exciting and ...organised but with wild impact!
Love all the different marks, the depth and colours. Looking forward to the next!
