I like the hues you used, it is relaxing to look at.

Re: WIP Untitled Abstract

I think the composition leans very heavy on a figure 8. the colors are very close in value except the teal line element. The shading relies heavily on adding a black.

Nothing is wrong with anything that I see. What is your direction or what are you chasing here.

I can say how it has a slight celtic spiral theme or maybe if you are emphasizing the figure 8, this should be horizontal composition.

As it is its a fun exploration of color and form, Alittle like ashile gorky or some of the surrealists, Matta, tanguay, etc

I rather like the comp. and I also like the tidying up of edges you've done.

I agree that there's not a great deal of contrast in tones though, so perhaps you could think about some really dark darks and high lights?
I personally wouldn't use a ready-mixed black with this colour scheme - but to each his own

Re: WIP Untitled Abstract

Thank you very much for the comments - they are helpful. Makes me think about things differently......I see the figure 8 now that you point it out and yes I did use black for some of the shading. I usually mix it with other related colors. I get the comment about the color and general lack of contrast. I will add that into the painting I am working on now.

THanks
