Re: 2 scapes

So glad to see another two in your signature style.

I swear I would have thought these were yours even if I hadn't seen your name attached.

Your paintings seem to have a delicate springtime feel. The colors are light and cool.

I almost keep staring at the first one waiting for a lithe creature to appear, perhaps a transparent ghostlike female.

Thanx 4 posting, your work always pleaseth our eye, Greg

Re: 2 scapes

Hi Mrs. LA. As you know, I am total newbie in painting, but if you allow me: I would rather extend the branches and leaves of the left tall tree a bit more down (against a bit more dark background - as is on right side). On the second painting - I might be crazy/sick etc. ... but is there supposed to be a lot of sexual energy? If this is intended - great (controversial?!). If not - may be you should tone it down.

My two cents. As I said - I am total amateur ..

Re: 2 scapes

Hi La. Seems like a different style for you. I like them both.
Just wonder why the left side of the adult lady looks so green.... I also think that the trees need some variation.
On the first one, I think that blank space in the forground needs something in it. It needs a center of interest. As is, the eye goes back to the distance and ends there. You've seen the scene and it is done. You have looked and you have been disappointed because there was nothing there to capture your interest.
I do like your change of subject matter.

Re: 2 scapes

I like your first landscape. I find hte yellow tree very refreshing to break up that grey sky. I also like the saturated blues popping through the trees, though it does make the scene surreal, as it wouldn't really be realistic on earth to have that grey sky and then suddenly bright cyan behind the trees. I have an urge to want to see some more of these brights in your water - not a lot, just a touch to bring harmony between the water and land.

The second one has a japanese-print feel to it, at least to me.

Re: 2 scapes

I love the colours in the first one, and I agree, some of the brighter colours in the reflection may work to your advantage! Also, a slight breakup with leaves / branches etc to break up the hard edge of the top left trees. I love the yellow too, its a refreshing scene and very delicately executed!
With the 2nd one, I did see the wing but didn't relate it to cupid until I read your post, perhaps if the wing were a bit more winglike with feathers perhaps, and not the same colour as the woman, it may be more obvious! I love the idea though and it has an old religious feel to it for me! There is a vulnerable but double meaning in there somewhere perhaps? Love the simple landscape and colours! =)) Deb.

Re: 2 scapes

Tree work is all I see lacking. The upper left tree in the first one doesn't look natural. The second painting has dwarf trees that I don't believe exist - however if that is the plan then leave those as they are...
I love the lower half of the first one, the river bank and details....it reminds me of Rembrant for some reason....excellent colours and textures. Inviting, with a hint of fantasy, myth and surrealism. Bravo!

Re: 2 scapes

Sorry La, but England Expects..........

The trees of the picture below are fragile and beautiful and the colours are mystical.

But need some nymphs emerging from that misty bank or at least heads and limbs. That's your signature.

It's your fault too because you draw them so well.

Re: 2 scapes

La, In the landscape you violated an important rule. You pushed everything to the center. It doesn't work well. You could divide the canvas into two parts and have two better pictures with a little work. That beach or fog or whatever it is needs defining. What is it? Maybe an animal drinking at the water hole would add some interest to the painting. What do you think?

Re: 2 scapes

well, phil, and margaretta, i'll tell ya
that beach - argh!
it's suppose to be a cozy little private spot
to sit and cuddle and watch the stars
i can't seem to settle it into it's spot
needless to say i'm a tad disappointed in my abilities
and refuse to put people in it until i can settle it

Re: 2 scapes

I am as much a devotee of your work as anyone but I must agree landscapes escape you. ROFLOL Someone had to say it. That quiet cuddle beach reads as a very sharp fall off from the tree line. And the sand looks very uninviting. Just look at the steep angles on the left and riight of this beach. Methinks if you sliced off the bottom third of the painting you would have some gorgeous totally La trees!
