PhD degree in Fine Arts
PhD in Fine Arts? -- PhD degree through practice-based research (PhD in studio arts as some colleges and universities offer now) - is it any good for getting jobs: teaching jobs, research/academic positions ?
I am not talking about what level of knowledge can be achieved thru these programs - that are viewd by some simply as money-collecting enterprises for naive wannabies and bored housewives looking for easy "degree". Probably there is indeed not much of any knowledge which can be obtained through these programs. Probably much more can be gained from reading appropriate books and going to museums on weekends.
Neverthless - ARE THESE PHD degrees TAKEN SERIOUSLY - as degrees anywhere... in regard of job-related professional qualification ???
Thanks.
