If I could do half as well, I would be happy too. Wonderful work.

Re: Completed Still Life

Thank you Laurie, Gale, Annie, the Valiantx, and TeAnne- your comments are greatly appreciated. And you are right Basketmaker that everyone can learn something from all the artwork on this board Thought you would be interested in seeing the reference photo I took. As you can see I left out the candle - felt it would only come across as a pillar and therefore not make any sense, so I had to rework the light on the horseshoe and sheep... I also changed the color on the left pitcher from dk blue to the green. Then I also changed a couple of the quilt squares for color continuity. Thanks again for looking and sending such wonderful reviews

Absolutely Spectacular! I've been searching for competitions for colored pencil, could you let me know where I could enter my work? Thanks, and again, you are amazing!

Re: Completed Still Life

Thanks Beri and Donna. As for where to look for art shows to enter there are many places. I alway peruse my local paper- at least once a week there is an art page that lists upcoming events in the area. I also always enter the local fairs - they should have web pages that list a prospectus with info. Art magazines will usually list national (and some international) shows. I also joined My Cafe ( https://www.callforentry.org/ ) that always has upcoming shows through out the year. If you look at the Colored Pencil Society of America's page they list their shows too (they have two a year, one for only colored pencil and one that allows other mediums with the pencil). Just pay attention to those deadlines

Re: Completed Still Life

Your painting is so much more beautiful than the reference photo. Your art has just brought all the objects to life and I can't believe the skill you have. Stunning work. Possibly the best piece of CP art I've ever seen!!

Re: Completed Still Life

Seriously, I had to look hard to tell which one is the photo, you have captured it so realistically!

I can see this on the wall of a colonial style house, it is so lovely and homely.

Re: Completed Still Life

WOW was my first response to this gorgeous painting. You need to enter this in a competition for sure. I am like one of the other members in that I thought it was a photo when I first looked at it.
Fantastic work!!!

Re: Completed Still Life

I really appreciate the wonderful comments. I really had so much fun doing this piece - it meant so much because almost every element of it had a personal meaning to me. Thank you Talia, Jess, Angelina, Klricca and Pause. As for the patience it took to do this, I never really noticed. I got so involved in trying to portray what I loved, time just flew and I just got in a zone. I think those are the times that make creating art one of the best experience one can have and certainly one reason why I make art.

Re: Completed Still Life

Hi Lizzydo. I cannot support you calling this a drawing, this is a painting in colored pencil. Beautiful!.
