The Verdict

Hi Everyone,

I sneak in here a lot to enjoy all the works posted and for some time had wanted to post something of my own. I'm actually not sure if 'any medium' is accepted, but trust that if I have posted incorrectly it will be understandably removed. I use to do a lot of contemplative art work and mostly at a time when I was totally engrossed in just drawing, since then I've painted a few things of the same genre which I actually no longer have. But I just wanted to join in so I chose to get my feet wet with this...it's a rather simple graphite concept of the fall of Adam and Eve, the consequences of a choice, or action that, like ripples in a stream, effect more then perhaps we think or know. It's in my collection and every time I personally cast a look in it's direction I think how sadly to this day man's first fall of disobedience continues to play a large part in man's present day fall. But that's just me.

Okay no more philosophy..haha This is a 16x20 graphite drawing on Bristol. All comments and C&C's are most welcome and above all 'Thank You' for looking.

Elaine

Re: The Verdict

Elaine, As I was looking at your work, it reminded me verses from Isaiah 11:6-9. Very dynamic work! I like how you have balanced all pieces in your work. What does sphere represent?

Re: The Verdict

Been having huge connection problems but I wanted several times to say thank you, let's hope I can get it in before I get cut off again..haha

Dominic you are so kind thank you so much, you've made me feel very comfortable and look forward to participating here a lot more often.

Anna you as well are very kind, Thank you too. The circle is just something that I personally connected with Genesis 1:1-2 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty" depending on the translation other wording 'void', to me it was just a connection with what was and was to come. Probably not the best choice of thing to put there but just my thinking it connected some how...

Elaine

Re: The Verdict

Elaine, I think it was a right decision to put the sphere as it creates some kind of visual break or may be a starting point as there are so many details around it. I like your idea of linking it to Gen 1, it does make sense.

Re: The Verdict

A good piece of art is supposed to pull you into it, and this certainly does. As a matter of fact it brought tears for me (in a good way). Wow! This is very expressive and beautiful It's also many different paintings and scenes within a scene. I know how it is to work on a more complicated piece and those are the ones I am usually unable to part with. Do you find this to be true?

Re: The Verdict

Even if it's been said before I'd like to add my welcome to WC to you Waterandcolor and navybrat...I'm an army brat..haha who married a sailor..LOL

navybrat....Thank you so much for your kind comment. I tend to get involved in one way or another in what you would call complicated pieces, but some of them start out just being for me and usually I don't part with them, actually not many people see them. But overall I'd have to say yes, when you put so much of yourself into a piece parting with it regardless is not easy and with some just impossible. Seems tho there are occasions when I more readily 'give' something away because it's struck a chord with that person, still to be honest it's not easy..

Waterandcolor Thank you too for your kind words, yes I think we've all been blessed as artist's to share in that creative nature, rather an awesome thought right!

Hugs,
Elaine

Re: The Verdict

This is incredibly beautiful and I agree the white sphere is a wonderful device to calm the eye and for me it somehow directs the eye to Adam and Eve at the same time. I'm just shutting down the computer for the night, I'm glad I saw this now, thank you for sharing it, just fabulous.

Re: The Verdict

Very well done. All of the parts work as a unity. This would do well as a print or poster.

Re: The Verdict

I haven't been active in Wet Canvas for quite a while but today I visited and fortunately discovered some of your beautiful artwork. The depth of inspirational thought, subject matter and artistic composition you created in "The Verdict" is inspiring to say the least.

If I am out of line by commenting on another of your works I apologize. However, since it is closed to comment I must comment here. in my wandering today, I found your composition "The Coming of Peace" and I just want to say that it is one of the most stunning, dramatic and beautiful cloudscapes I have seen. Thank you for posting it.

Re: The Verdict

You are all so very kind in your comments and I thank you from the heart.

Cloud Drifter..I so appreciate your comment on my drawing and even more thrilled that you liked 'The Coming of Peace', that was done awhile ago but it remains very special to me and I am touched that it stirs such comments from you. And I am curious so I must ask...did you see the dove in it? I didn't do that on purpose but hence the name..

Derek good to see you here! Thank you so much. I don't return as much as I'd like to and that is a true but sad statement, there are wonderful people here and yes it can be a tad slow but I'm not sure everyone else wanders around as much as perhaps we do. LOL That can change tho.

Hugs,
Elaine
