"Kiwi"

"Kiwi" by Andrew Daniel
oil on wood panel
6" x 6" (15cm x 15cm)

Cut up some kiwi, and tried to paint them fast enough that I would still be able to eat them before that went bad. Didn't work, I had to eat them before I was done!

I must admit, still life is a real challenge for me, at least when things are moving, people and landscapes, I can use that as an excuse not to get too specific...

Re: "Kiwi"

Keeping it fresh is a challenge whatever the subject! Cut kiwis don't last long though...especially if they look juicy! Love your palette...very good colour match
You haven't asked for C&C so I won't give it

Re: "Kiwi"

No problem...I do them!

Not a lot really...just that overall it looks quite dry..I thought it was done in pastel, until I realised it was actually oil. I think that as the kiwis are cut, that maybe you could make the cut surface look more juicy by adding a little skim of a lighter colour in areas that may have reflected the light. You'll either need to get some more kiwis or look for a painting that shows you what I mean.
Other than that I think you painted them really well!

Re: "Kiwi"

Yah, I can see what you mean about the dryness. I'll be thinking about as I work on other still lives! Thanks!
