Re: Spring Contemplation - a WIP

Wow look at what I had been missing, this is coming along really nicely, Doesn't look like your struggling at all. I like the trees and the way you have done the waterfall. I think this piece will have a very relaxing, peaceful feel to it. What size is it? How many hours has it taken you so far?

Re: Spring Contemplation - a WIP

I can totally understand you feeling like its a real struggle- afterall its something new for you to attempt and you were full of trepidation before you even began the waterfall . As far as I can see it is coming along really well -its difficult to discern any detail in it but I think your struggle has been worth it
I can't remember what size is this?

Keep going your doing a wonderful job.

Hugs,

Ali

Re: Spring Contemplation - a WIP

Thank you Peggy, Ariess, Dave, Smudged Blue, Karen and Ali for all your help and support. This is 11 x16 in on W & N cold press NOT Cotman watercolour paper 140lb. As people probably know by now I use a variety of pencils but mostly Lyra Rembrandts and Derwent drawing.
Well its another day so another update. On the suggestion of some other good friends I've done some more work on the waterfall changing the levels somewhat and I've included a closeup of the waterfall. Let me know what you think, any suggestions, comments etc gladly recieved. I really do appreciate the help

Re: Spring Contemplation - a WIP

The changes you have made have certainly done the trick I think the waterfall is looking fantastic -my only query is -should there be more foam at the bottom of the waterfall? The water looks brilliant and the reflection in the pool is dynamite .

Are YOU pleased with it is the more important question? You should be .

Thanks for providing a close up -it really helps, so is that size your working on about A3?

Keep providing lots of updates -it is coming along beautifully.

Hugs,

Ali

Re: Spring Contemplation - a WIP

Marie, great progress! You are very diligent I like the reflections in the pool, too. Like Ali says, perhaps a little bit more foam could be nice. The contrasts/values are very well done.

Re: Spring Contemplation - a WIP

Thanks again Ali, Angela and Lexy, you have no idea how much braver it makes me feel having you alon.
Malinda, thank you I'm so glad you like it.
As a few have said how much they like the foliage, which I appreciate greatly, I thought I would say a few words. I learnt an enormous amount by reading the tutorials of DBSullivan on the pen and ink forum. I know its a different medium but I have found the tutorials invaluable and they are the basis of what I do

Thank you all again for your help

Re: Spring Contemplation - a WIP

Thank you Pat for your encouragement, really appreciate it.
Here is todays update, I have started the first layers on the figure, just starting to map things out really. I have done some more work on the water. Sorry about the quality of the photo, the light quality wasn't very good today. All C & C very welcome

Re: Spring Contemplation - a WIP

Very good, it looks much, much better than I thought it would when looking at the initial sketch. Good choice of greens and other colours as well. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
