Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
 Hi all
We are so busy trying to fund our travell to Finland that we can not think about anything else at the moment... thought I would post a photo of the exhibition and just for fun the price of the little round table in the foreground next to me is US$ 850.-
Take good care of yourselves over the holidays
Edit... forgot to upload the pic.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Nice to see you, Sigrun! The rug is beautiful. The table is quite a bit over budget for us! Is it antique or what?
Margo, glad you figured out it was April. You will have to show us some of your pictures from the celebration.
It has turned cooler here after a lot of rain this week and is supposed to even go down into 30's at night and around 40*, 60's day time. More normal for this time of year than the warmth we have been getting.
Just sat out on our porch swing awhile. It's 58* but feels warmer with the sun hitting our legs. I crocheted on one of the baby blankets I'm making while I sat out there.
Have a beautiful day, all!

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Hi Bonnie yes the prices are a bit steep to say the least and not the table is not antique but made by some scandinavian designer that I do not know...this was kind a cheap compared to the rest of the furniture... but it was great to be able to show our rugs there amongst all the world famous designers.
Has our Fiber art forum been targeted by spam ... I saw strange post on my silk thread but lucikly it is goen now... I do not like these trolls or what ever they are called

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Bonnie, seems like winter decided to stay for a while after all. You're having cooler temperatures and thunderstorms. We are having snow. Fortunately, it's just cold enough to snow, not cold enough to stick. Are you going to crochet one of those peeps?
Margo, hope you had fun with all your sketching opportunities. Should I be and tell you to give in to temptation? I've always thought it would be cool to know how to spin and weave. It would have to be weave since I can neither knit or crochet.
Sigrun, I hope you are able to charge outrageous prices like that or more for your gorgeous rugs. And, for some reason, it was just that one thread here in Fiber Art. Tho' I suspect the spammer was on other forums since it wasn't Jen that deleted it, but another moderator.
Today, I've tried on and fussed with the purple pants several times. I found out part of the fitting problem. While fixing it, I came across the issue of not having enough fabric around my hips when I sit down. And, the back waist slides down when I sit. I'm back at the drawing board doing some trouble shooting. DH keeps asking if I'll be able to wear the purple pants when I'm done. (He wants all this work to result in a pair of pants in my closet that I can wear. ) I told him they may very well end up in the scrap heap. Not only that, I may have to sacrifice another piece of fabric before I get this dialed in. (He didn't want to hear that.) But, better the purple fabric I bought so long ago I don't remember what it cost, nor why I bought it, than something expensive.
Other than that, I made granola bars today. Found a great recipe for them. I've made them twice now and it doesn't seem like they can go wrong. Great thing is, it's a proportion recipe so you fill in the general ingredient, like cereal with what you have on hand. Best of all, there is no powdered milk or whey protein in them.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Great picture, Sigrun. The table is way, way out of my budget. I wish I could get those kind of prices for my stuff. If I have something at $40 they say it is too high priced.
Bonnie snow and cold. It is what I call chilly here and it is 75. We do have a couple of windows open but that breeze is chilly. Still nice to air the house though.
Debby, I think winter kind of past you guys this year. The saga of the purple pants continues I see.
My day was making an outfit for a 1920's German doll that the customer had brought me on last Friday. She wanted a baby outfit but I think the doll looks to old in the face for that so I did a little girl type outfit. I sent her a picture and she likes it. She won't be over until next Wednesday to pick it up. She lives 50 miles away.
The dress, bloomers and hat are made from a soft linen fabric and then I put white knee stocking on her plus the original booties, which I had to fix and clean. I tried to clean the doll but could only get part of the dirt off and there were areas that would not come clean so the clothing hides everything.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
I didn't get to go sketch today, anywhere . I woke up and my tummy was in very bad shape, tried a bit of a nap only worse, and so I spent the entire day in bed sleeping. I am so bummed, I was really looking forward to the spectacle of the event. Now tomorrow is my Colcha class, I only hope I feel better and can go. I'm sick of being sick! I don't do it well. So everyone I can make my class. I'm going to see if I can eat a bite, check my bag for class to make sure all of my items are in it, and probably go back to bed.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Eva, that's such a pretty dress for the doll. How wonderful you had some soft linen to use. Very period for that doll, I would think.
Margo, so sorry to hear you are ill again. Hope it passes quickly and you were able to get to class today. Was looking forward to hearing your report.
I've decided to give the purple pants a rest. I just can't deal with them today. In theory, I was going to work on the shirt pattern from this pattern system. But, I found myself, after I'd put the sewing machine away, picking up my sketchbook and colored pencils. I did make some flat bread this morning and decided I've put off making chicken soup long enough. I'm thinking about a recipe I have for GF soft garlic bread sticks. Sounds so yummy and would be perfect with soup. So, I'll be back in the kitchen this afternoon. I think I'll go back to my sketchbook for a bit before kitchen duty calls again.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
I got 2 new dolls this morning and seeing I had picked up dolls this week and none had been cleaned yet, that is what I did this morning. The ones that needed hair done with curls were done and are now drying in the sun. Now that they dolls will be clean, I will have to start making clothes for them. One of the dolls I got this morning for $2.99 at Goodwill, I thought was just another Mattel doll that isn't worth much. We I started to research it, it is a Tomy 17 inch doll with all the original clothing and is listed on eBay from $50 to $99. I think I will be able to make a good profit on that one. That is if it sells.
Margo, sorry you missed your big day yesterday and hope you made class today.
Debby, it is probably time to walk away from the pants for a while and work in the kitchen. Tomorrow may be a better day to work on them or even late next week. I know I have to walk away from things when they don't work out. No use to fight with it. You will get them right one of these days.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Okay, couldn't chat yesterday, too yucky.
Sigrun it's great to see a picture of you in front of the rugs, it gives me more of an idea of the size. The girl who runs the fiber shop was wearing an Icelandic sweater today, I thought of you.
Eva, I like the way you dressed that dolly, she is so sophisticated looking.
Debby, sounds like a break will do you some good, one can only take so much frustration before the rip it to shreds point is reached.
I felt better today and was able to attend my Colcha embroidery class. It was a lovely day, I'm smitten with the teacher and will no doubt have to take some other kind of class with her. The other ladies were fun as well, but not one from the local area, 1 lady drove from Albuquerque and the rest are from Santa Fe. We practiced with nice yarns that the teacher brought, some her own handspun and dyed yarns and others were the end pieces that one of the weavers saves for her to give to the students. Of course my piece is nowhere near done, it is a very labor intensive sort of embroidery, but I got a good start and Beatrice sent me home with a bunch of yarn to finish it. I see an application of this to some of my garments, I discussed it with the instructor and she said yes I could use it on my Ikat but that I should use cotton thread instead of wool. So...who knows where this will take me, we shall see further on down the road. It was a fun day all in all, and nice to feel good enough to be out of the house. I think between the move and stress my immune system is not up to snuff and a huge onslaught of new and different pollen every day is waaaaaaaay to much for it. Time for some accupuncture or something else to bolster my system. Some sort of spring tonic.
Time to go paint, I didn't do a single sketch or anything yesterday, I'm having withdrawals from my pens and watercolors. Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate it and to those who don't, have a beautiful day.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Eva, hope you can sell your find. That would be awesome. Looking forward to seeing the new batch of dollies you've got sitting in the sun relaxing after getting their hair done.
Margo, so glad to hear you made it to your class. Sounds like you learned lots and are going to run with this new fiber art. Usually when I move to a new location, my allergies subside for a few years. Of course, then my body figures out it supposed to react to the pollen and away I go. Tho' I have to admit, the shorter growing season up north and the freezing winters has cut down on my reactions a lot.
Thanks ladies, I pretty much decided it had gotten to that point on the pants. I'm taking another day off from sewing today. Still playing in my sketchbook and the kitchen. The chicken & rice soup turned out fabulous. The garlic bread sticks were a meh. I could have achieved the same effect using my flat bread recipe and brushing it with the dairy free "butter" and chopped garlic. There was supposed to be some raising of the dough making it more bread like. It's only twice as thick as the flat bread. *shrug* It tastes fine and went well with the soup. But, I'm still searching for baking recipes. Have a few printed out that will be next on the list to try. DH is such a sport about all of this. He's been eating regular desserts and breads that we buy for him at the store. But, he's also willing to try and help me eat the experiments in gluten free baking.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Aren't husband dear and try everything you make? Mine keeps coming into the sewing room this morning to check on what I am working on but he is just checking and there is never any thing said about what I am working on. He is a good one to balance ideas off of and will always tell me if it is good or bad. He is my best friend.
Margo your new fabric art sounds wonderful. You will have to show us your project.
I am just working on a customer outfit. Sent her an email this morning to wish your a good Easter and got one back from her saying she will be in CA for most of the week visiting family so guess no hurry to get the outfit done or to mail it. I will get it done today but then not mail until the end of the week. It is good to have it done today because with another customer bringing me a new project on Wednesday then I will be able to work on that one right away. My own dolls can wait for clothing. They are not going any where

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Did everyone have a nice Easter? Ours was just us and we had wonderful church services morning and night. Went to McD for a burger, so no big deal with food here, but a good day in all.
Went to our seniors monthly breakfast at church this morning and I was a pretty good girl though I used up a lot of WW points. I wrote them in my journal.
Tom is out mowing and it's cool today but 60's and will be 55* for our high temp Wed and Wed, Th, Fri mornings in the 30's.
Sigrun, yes! That was definitely nice to be showing your rugs with such high-class furniture, etc.
Margo, sorry you missed your sketching opportunity. I know you were bummed about that. Glad you could take the class the next day, though. Sounded interesting.
Debby, I would walk away from those pants, too, for awhile. Sketching sounds much more fun to me.
Eva, very sweet doll outfit for the customer.
Tom is right by the den doors where I am and he is sneezing away on the mower. I guess he will be doing this the rest of the day. He does not always do spring well. I have that rash that I had last late spring and summer here, on my upper chest and it itches. Pretty large red bumps. I'm assuming it is from some of this pollen and affecting me this way. I have had it back for several days. Last year it was either on my neck or chest and lasted a long time.
Ok, that it for me. Over and out.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
I think it is pretty much allergy season everywhere. We sneeze a lot here from all the dust plus everything is starting to bloom.
I am sitting here with an ice pack on my shoulder. I ache everywhere but the shoulder is is worse so that is where I have the ice right now. I don't think I will get much done today.
I did get my customer outfit for the 22 inch doll done yesterday and will ship it later this week as she will be gone until Saturday. This is what the outfit looks like on one of my dolls.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Eva, sorry you are hurting so badly. Take care of yourself. It's ok to take a day off now and again. Cute little spring outfit. (Thought you didn't like yellow, or am I mistaken?)
Bonnie, did you ever get that rash checked out by a doctor? Also ice on the rash can help with the itching if you don't want to use the OTC itch cream or ointment. Better, of course if it's hot and you don't mind being a little cooled off as well.
Had a somewhat productive morning. Got the bra I ordered. Wouldn't you just know it, it was too big. I called them and they agreed that I need the next size down. So, I'm sending this one back and they will exchange it for a smaller size. Have to wait a bit of course because of turn around time. DH got a raise at work. (Finally! After 5 years without. He works for the state and the state budget wasn't paying out. *sigh* His reviews were excellent, just no raises.) Anyway, he said we deserved a treat and I put together an order from Amazon. (Can you tell we both like books. ) Then I called Home Depot because of the shower size issue. The designer was finally in and said he could special order a base, but not the side panels. We are back to tile for the shower. But, that means we have to go back to the store. We have an appointment tomorrow afternoon. That should finalize the elements that need to be purchased. Then, I got a coupon from them in the mail. 12 months no interest on their credit card. Sounds like a plan to me. Got my passport in the mail, so now I'm ready (as soon as I get my wardrobe together) to travel. DH helped me measure for the shirt pattern so that's next. Talked with mom about the pants and confirmed I'm on the right track to get them fitting properly. But, I'm still going to leave them sit for a bit and work on the shirt instead. It all needs to be done, just not ready to be using the seam ripper again.

Re: Stitch in Time - April 2012
Eva, feel better soon. Sorry about the aches and especially the shoulder. The doll outfit is cute and does look like spring.
Debby, glad the pants solution has been discovered. Happy day on the raise! Tom worked for the state of FL for 18 years so he could understand the hold up on the raise. Isn't it fun to spend that extra $? We just did that with our tax refund and some surprise $ we got through his retirement. That was our porch swing and Tom's new ham radio. He had to send the first 2 back. They didn't work. Third one was a charm and he's loving it.
About the rash, I don't go to the dr. for anything except bp med and my hormones. I can not stand dr.s. Sorry, it's not been good in the past over many years, and I'm not one that just goes any time I get a hang nail. I have had some decent dr.s, but just don't believe in it for myself. It hasn't bothered me as much today, though it started out itching pretty bad.
Must get busy crocheting on that baby blanket. Crocheting it in mile-a-minute crochet and need to have it done for a baby "gifting" we are doing at church Sunday for one of our families. Not a real shower, but just leaving gifts on a special table in the hall at church.
