April is International Fake Journal Month
I just wanted to remind everyone that April is International Fake Journal Month. I know that a few of you participated last year. Here is a link to Roz Stendhal's blog which explains it a bit. I am still contemplating what I'm going to do for it.

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
Thanks for the link Joan. I am thinking seriously about giving this a go. But what to do, who to be, where to be, when to be, so many questions, so few days left to decide.

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
Last year, that was the challenge for the month of April. Question, want to do that again this year for April's Art Journal challenge?

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
Debby I think that makes sense to do it again, if enough people are interested. As with last year it doesn't have to be "official" participation, it can just be to share here. Well that's just my two cents worth :P

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
That sounds cool Rainy. I tossed around a lot of ideas last night, till about 4am. I am going to be Mandy learning to cook. One of my current goals is to try and illustrate recipes as well as do food drawings, can also include going to a market, etc. I think there will be enough scope to keep me busy and I guess Mandy can just lead me where she wants to go. In the move I found an old hardcover blank notebook that I bought about 20 yrs ago. There was a couple of sketches on the first 4 pages but otherwise it is empty. I am going to use that. The paper is thin but I'll work around that. I am actually looking forward to this, roll on Sunday.

OOH, good one Jacqui. That sounds really fun, you could draw all those lovely veggies and fruits, too..
I've not decided on a journal yet. . . I know that I don't don't want it to be too small since I plan to do some landscapes. And I would like to use a bunch of different media so will want sturdy paper. Not too many pages though since I hope to fill it in the month of April. Hm. . . Gotta go through my blank journal drawer and pick one out!

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
Rainy - Sounds like an idea to keep you busy sketching what you enjoy!!! Hope you find a good journal.
Jacqui - Your idea sounds cool! It should be fun to sketch markets and veggies. Do we get to test the recipes?
I have sort of decided on a theme. I had two ideas but my hubby really likes one better than the other. It seemed like I had so many blank journals, but I couldn't find one I really wanted to use. that would take watercolors well..although I do have a blank Strathmore Visual Journal left. Maybe I'll use that.

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
Annie, as long as you journal in real time (even if it's an alternate universe, it's still April 2012 in your journal) you can be anybody you want to be. Last year I was Andrea, an 11 year old girl. The year before I was Hans the beekeeper in an alternate universe.
I'm still on the fence. I'll have to decide soon tho' since it all starts on Sunday. I had a tickle of an idea about 6 weeks ago but haven't really thought about it any further. However, it may not get posted as I am still without a camera.
I like your idea Rainy. Should be fun to see snowy landscapes and dogs in and out of harness.
Jacqui, that sounds like a fun journal idea too. I've always thought about doing illustrated recipes. Have you visited the site "They draw and cook"? I don't have the url handy or I'd have posted it.

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
I'm going to do it this year too. My character has evolved from the journal I chose. I was looking through my stack and pulled 10 to think about. One was a coptic stitch journal I bound using 2 oil portraits of the same model. Nice heavy watercolor paper. I had intended to take it to my drawing or painting group and use it for watercolor portraits...then I moved. Still percolating the character but she is becoming pretty alive for me already, we'll see if that holds when the journaling begins.
Rainy I think that will be an exciting character for you, you seemed to be getting warmed up for it last month.
Jacqui you idea sounds wonderful, lots of scope for paintings or sketches.
Farmer Jiles it is Annie! I suppose we'll see lots of livestock and landscapes.
My character will be revealed when the journaling begins...I hope.

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
Thanks Rainy, Joan, Debby and Margo. I have written up an intro page already just to get into character.
I look forward to seeing Farmer Jiles and whatever/whoever evolved from Joan and Margo. It is like a mystery unfolding. Margo I really like the sound of your journal, I hope we get to see pics of the covers.

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
Annie - Go for it!!!
Debby - Hope you get an inspiration!
Rainy - I love the square journals!!!
Margo - Sounds like you're almost ready to start!
Jacqui - Sounds good. I also wrote up something to get started and work out the mechanics of what I'm doing. I went to an art store yesterday and bought a few Strathmore Visual Journals, so that is what I'll use. I also started working on the title page of the journal.

Re: April is International Fake Journal Month
I'm sticking with my character from last year. Flat Mickey isn't travelling this year, as she is expecting a visit from a new friend, Rosita Plano. So Flat Mickey will get to practice her Spanish. LOL
