Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

Hi to all! It's cold here still at nights, there was a ground frost this morning! I had to have a day off yesterday from sorting out my Dad's caravan, as I had done too much and my back gave out. Spent yesterday lying on the couch.

Back up and at it again today, hopefully all will be completed today and then I can get back to my artwork in progress!

If you didn't pick this Kindle book up the last time it was free, here's another chance.

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

'morning everyone, Happy April Fool's Day!

Thanks for the start Shirl, and for the book - I snagged it. Hope you're feeling better....

JayJay - ouch - take care of yourself. There's are few things worse than having your back give out! Feel better quickly!

Today is our 5th anniversary! DH will be collecting phones for the customer one last time today; I'm thinking of riding with him since it's a long drive - some as far as Acton, which is nearly 100 miles one way.

We got a little bit of rain last night; this morning is blue sky, but windy... no other grand plans for the day....

Waving to all that follow, have a happy healthy and creative day!

Shirl thanks for starting us off, and for the book link!

Doug I would be in heaven working with those owls! I always loved them, and so did my mom!

Mary Lou, Congrads on your anniv., plus retirement!

Gotta go to an honor society initiation for oldest today.....she is in the same 2 of the 3 I was in, not that I ever told her until she got asked to join! She is not in the geology one I was in....and says since she is never going to take a geology class I should not hold my breath!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

Last night I had a post almost done and then lost it. I was too tired to retype.
I am home and it feels sooo good. I stayed home from church this morning and went thru the months' mail and then did my budget and bill paying for April. I also called my mom, she's doing very well in the convalescent facility and is in very good spirits. I'm still debating on hopping up there this month, but still plan on going for a longer stay in May.
I have a horrendous "to do" list for the next few days and after having a period of time where I didn't have a computer for several days at a time, I've decided to curttail my computer time starting immediately. I really could keep up with FB via my phone and figure I'll pop into WC every morning, but not throughout the day. I really must make this change in order to get my house in order (it's truely a mess!)

Linda,
Yes, they spray vineyards heavily! I doubt that the fermenting process rids the fruit/juice of the chemicals.

Doug,
The owl pics are AWESOME!! I would love to see them first hand. I've watched this live cam for a few years and find it so fascinating.

Shirl,
I snagged that Kindle book too! Thank you!!!

ML,
Happy Anniversary!!! We'v got to get together via email and get a Huntington date set.

JayJay,
Do take care of that back!! It's no fun to be laid up.

to everyone, and wishing all a very good and productive Sunday!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

Congrats on the anniversary, ML. Hope the ride along had some interesting things to see.

JayJay, definitely take care of the back. I did too much yesterday and mine is telling me so today. Will avoid lifiting for a day or two.

About the owls, I hope there are 3 (maybe 4) out tomorrow. If the third one (its face has been seen) doesn't come out soon, the parents will stop feeding it. The campus is so well protected that they have nearly unlimited food between the bunnies that live inside the ring of buildings and the prairie dogs that live less than 1/2 mile outside the campus. The babies hand around until late July or August when the parents will chase them out.

Brenda, Xcel Energy has a number of web cams up for birds.
The eaglcam at St. Vrain is not far from where I live and has a bald eagle sitting in it today and the two owl cams have young still in the nests

The owls are a distraction at work but a good one.

Doug

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

'morning everyone!

Welcome back B!! Wow, after all that time away it has to feel good to be back in your own bed... Yeah, I bet your house is 'guy' clean instead of 'your' clean Mine on the other hand, will only become more of a disaster over the next 4-6 weeks... We'll have to coordinate calendars again...

Doug, I ended up not going with DH - he said I probably wouldn't be allowed into some of the lock-down areas where he collects phones, so I stayed home and started going thru 'stuff' in the studio. I really think mixed media artists could have a tendency to become hoarders based on all the junk I threw out yesterday...

Linda, that's going to be quite a transition going back to school... gee, do chefs have 'homework'?? I just had a giggle thinking about tests for chefs - do you bring in cooked homework??

Azure, what's happening - is the outside gang back again?? Chance (the neighbor's cat) has been coming over nearly every day to give me kitty love...

DH is driving up to LA today to drop off the keys and data cd, and that will pretty much be it; except for doing his own phones, which won't require a lot of effort. I'm going to have a list of honey do's for him now to keep him busy... I have a few reports to do as well, but one I can't do until the middle of the month, so I still have 'work'... and one final paycheck.

Time to get busy - waving to Shirl, Ona, Jackie, JayJay, Kay, and anyone I failed to mention - be creative

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

Hi all!!

Nothing new here. . .work, work and more work to get done!

Doug,
Thanks for the cam sites info. When I have time to pop into those cams, I love to!! I haven't checked on the Norfolk Eagles in a while, not sure if there will be a viable nest this year (new female as last years' was killed by a plane).

ML,
I can't even imagine trying to get ready to move. We've been in our current house for 19 years
It sounds like the "shut down" of the business is very quick!!
As soon as I get caught up a little, I've got closet cleaning on my radar and plan on getting a bunch of stuff listed on ebay.
I actually think all creative people are borderline hoarders -

Linda,
Wow -- I must've missed the post that you are definitely going to go to cooking school!! What an adventure is in store for you -- I imagine much of what is taught you will already have some knowledge of.

wishing everyone a very good, productive and CREATIVE day!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

Morning/afternoon everyone. Weather changed dramatically from yesterday being sunny and hot (80) to dreary and cold (40) with a LOT of wind. Spring has come back and we now have seasonal temperature and is sure feels cold.

ML, I need to sort throught the studio before classes start again or I'll never be able to do anything. It lost all control during the tile class.

Linda, are you going to do your cookbook with Faber-Castell pencils? They are vegan compatible

Did a little sketching of the Episcia and played with getting the color right but haven't started the actual piece yet. Perhaps this week will get it onto a real support.

Hope all have a creative day.

Doug

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

Hello and happy April to all of you creative folks! I did sticky and unstick these threads yesterday but they did not stay so have done it again and hope it works. We have a new challenge and how I posted it without access to my Photoshop Elements 6 images is the question of the day; been looking up FAQ about its problems with the Organizer showing images...just hate having these glitches but will try their suggestions. I have Dell Studio XP Vista.
JJ, hope your back gets better, nothing worse than when your back goes out...hello Shirl and happy anniversary ML! Hi Linda, Brenda, Doug, Azure, Ona, Jackie and anyone else.
Agree about us being hoarders! Just realizing I am one! A closet hoarder and it is a neurosis. Very scary. I do not have a drawer that is not "the junk drawer"...closets are disasters! Oh well, do not worry, just create is my motto.
See ya later!

Kay - I'm taking a break from going thru all my old art magazines, over 10 years worth!! I have 81 Artists Magazine, 3 Drawing, 14 American Artist, 7 International Artist, 13 Artist's Sketchbook and 1 Art Calendar. (and that doesn't count all the Watercolor Artist, Watercolor Magic and Watercolor magazines)

I had this grand idea to put them all as one lot on eBay for 25 cents each - but the box weighs 42 pounds!!! Parcel post would be more than the cost of the magazines... Guess I'll put it on Craig's List, and if I get no bites, I'll just give them to the guy who picks up our recyclables...

ML, you might check with the post office to see if they could be shipped media mail rate although that would only save about $9 for 42 pounds. They might not qualify but worth checking.

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012

Looks like I'm first up this morning!

Thanks for the many wishes on the back problem... I damaged my spine in a car accident years ago, so it's always iffy. My problem is not knowing when to stop and then I'm very poorly and taking the painkillers by the dozen.

Glad to say M&D's caravan is all done now and ready to roll. Only a few more things to sort out on mine, but I have 3 weeks before I go away, so that can wait a whiley until I'm sure my back can take it a bit.

I had some curtains to alter for my son - and started on them, only to find my poor old sewing machine had died. Rip Cresta, circa 1950-60s! So I'm on a search for a new one, thinking about buying a Brother, as nearly all the reviews say they are ok. And Lightweight!! I had to wait until one of my sons came over to lift the Cresta onto the table, then another wait to put it back off the table! I've been meaning to replace it for years, but never did.

Today I'm having a lazy day... it's raining on and off and so I'm just waiting for a gap to walk the doggie, then I might just get on with something creative!

Have a good productive day to you all.
