Re: The Plant Parade: a Forum Project April 2012

Thank you so much everyone for your kind comments on my work--they are so encouraging and mean a lot to me........

Welcome to all new joiners to PP--it is a really fun place to be.

Grace, great job-the climbing roses are so lovely;

Leya, your painting is very nice -- dont worry about the whites, it takes some practice and time;

Trier, glad you listened to the Missus;

Gail, nice to see the whole thing--it is a beautiful plaque;

Cindy, your last one is gorgeous also.

Re: The Plant Parade: a Forum Project April 2012

thanks to everyone that commented. Yes, the yellowed one was taken at night as I was going to be too busy to do it in the day.. and I wanted to get it posted as it showed the altered roses. I was not happy with the roses in the first (this photo which was taken in the day near a window.) I do try to take the photos during the day generally though.

Gail- I love it even more as the "folksy" plaque.

Trier, I am sure "the Missus" is pleased with this, it is a lovely looking garden.

Cem..... beautiful. I am glad someone did that bird.. I nearly did

Re: The Plant Parade: a Forum Project April 2012

You caught me - I started out painting on kids' clothing, cakes, quilts or whatever - went to decorative art and still teach it part-time while I do my own fine-arty thing! I love to paint animals, birds, landscapes and fantasy themes, or whatever takes my fancy (as we all do). The work shown on this forum is magnificent. Thanks for the kind comments. Gail

GailT...the plaque is lovely. As you know, the first artists painted on cave walls and I think to only use canvas and paper is a limitation. If this plaque were in my porch I'm sure everyone would want to walk straight in!

Good man Trier...do as you are told, as your wife obviously knows best. What romance and lusciousness of flowers by your gate!

CEM....delightful bird...he's waiting for the garden worms and will soon leave his swirly garden perch.

Re: The Plant Parade: a Forum Project April 2012

Cindy, I absolutely love your gate - - wonderful job on the wrought iron and that is a sweet, colorful hummingbird. Well done! I was starting to think that no one was going to use that gate reference but me, I would love to have that gate.

So here is mine finally. I have been wanting to do this mountain bluebird for quite a while. It is the state bird for Idaho and so I added the mock-orange blossoms which is their state flower. Might need to look at it a few days and tweak, but I wanted to get it to a point that I won't miss this month's project completely.

Mostly pan pastels with a few pencil/stick embellishments. 9x12" on AS colourfix. Please give me critiques; I am still learning and am brand new to pastel. I need all the help I can get

Thank you for all the wonderful references and the great challenge this month!

I'm totally impressed with the lovely work that has graced these pages showing such grand gates, foliage, and flowers along with birds. Just awesome! I've been out of town so much with scarcely any time to to comment but will try to on each one.

Linetta..oh my this is just so pretty, soft and graceful and you absolutely do not need all the help you can get, this piece backs me up in my statement.. Wonderfully done, honestly no joking I think you are going to just soar in the pastel medium! Love it!!

Re: The Plant Parade: a Forum Project April 2012

Vivien: be proud! being the first to post takes courage and wow! the standard is always high when you start the posting.

Charliesmum: bright and cheery. my eyes move right along the pathway and through the gate of your imaginative garden.

eyepaint: your simplicity is appealing yet not so simple at all

antiqueteacher:i'm not certain what DS paint are?? but your approach is very unique. the tines on the rake are twisting my brain. either way, i say.

purplefire1: there is a secrecy about yours. good work!

Agnesdale: how do you do it? every project, there is improvement. wow! what else can i say?

KreativeK: beautiful!

Elaine: this is greatness in the making! i hope we get to see it finished.

Lil: lovely interpretation

Cem: gorgeous scenes!

Trier: wonderful use of color to create such dynamic moods. thank u for posting!

artastic: nice shadow work

Margaretta: both scenes are gorgeous. the yellow tones take my eye along the pathway. i like the hint of yellow just to the bottom left corner of your garden gate.

Chrystalclear: i see such depth between the shadows to one side of your gate to the sunnier side of the other. very nice.

GailT: such delicate color choices

Cerann: i do like the first one very much but both are so pretty.

OzieRTgal: nice touch by adding the stone pathway

linettalee: what a pretty shade of blue i see in yours! serene it is.

much love to all,
chana

I am so amazed at the wide variety of mediums and such lovely work in this months plant parade! Ya'll did great! Applause applause!!! Wonderful, colorful scenes with some very different perspectives! Nice on the eyes!

I unfortunately could not finish one in time. So very busy lately...only half done. I'll post it when it's done though...just won't make this month's time slot. Ah well...we move forward...perhaps next one...
Peace...
Dan
