3 year old boy
This is a commissioned portrait that I just finished last night. I used a photo for reference, but I added the fence, the left hand, and the background.
C&C's welcome!
Ref picture:
Mom approved the changes before I started on the drawing....

Re: 3 year old boy
Very very nice. Love that the eyes and shirt match and the background is contrasting colors. Very well done!

Sweet boy! I like how you managed his flesh tones. So young and fresh. For me the portreting in colored pencil appears as very difficult...I don't ever think about it yet. Very nice!

Re: 3 year old boy
Char, you've brought out wonderful light/color in his eyes (barely visible in the photo). Like Clydeine, I like the contrasting background colors, but have to agree with Lynette. IMHO the yellows/oranges work well, but the lime green blobs are a bit distracting to me. Great portrait--your client should be very pleased!

Re: 3 year old boy
Very nice color combo...shines nicely. most of the time when we have to reposition a body part it never works out, I think you did a wonderful job with the hand. Not sure about the background but on to the next piece...

Re: 3 year old boy
Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I was not sure of the bg, either. When I first did it, I blended it and blurred the green almost faded out, and the customer asked me to darken the green. I told her I wanted the warm colors to contrast with the shirt, so I also darkened the sand and peach. She picked it up today, and she was happy with it. But, I do wish I had done a different background....but, like George said...on to the next!!

Re: 3 year old boy
When we as artists see all of the things that are not quite perfect we often forget that most of the time the client will never notice all of the things we do not like about a piece. As artists we are expected to be the hardest of critics of our own art work...the fun of art is not the final piece but the journey of how it got there.
