Talking WIP..Rod's Salute to the sun

This is one of Rods beautiful flowers. Thank you Rod for the photo ref. 9" x 12" arches wcp, W/N artist paints.......not finished with it and have a lot more to do. But have to take a break and visit daughter to help her groom a couple of dogs........(she has a mobile grooming business.....) anyway not sure if I want to do the same background or not, so any help in that direction would be appreciated.......

I'll post the ref photo first, then the wip pics next up to the point I'm at........so far the colours used are warm orange, w/n yellow, burnt umber, with a touch of natural tint......

Barb, that is a beautiful reference photo and you're doing a great job so far!!

I just purchased a book showing artist who leave a lot of 'white/light' in their paintings and this reminds me very much of their paintings!!

Will be checking back for progress pics!!
