Talking Hello all!

I am a brand new member to this forum and am very excited to be a part of this community! I am 21 years old and have enjoyed art ever since I can remember. I took art classes all through high school, but since entering into college I have taken none nor have I exercised my talent as much as I should have. I am now looking into refining my skills and picking back up those I have lost. Is there a website that anyone could lead me to for some art lessons and projects that could help me get some much needed practice ??? I am currently at a relatively small Christian college in Lake Wales, FL--next semester they will be adding their FIRST art class, focusing on Fibers. I was SOOOO excited, but unfortunately early registration is over and I am the only student enrolled ! The incoming freshmen are my only hope--I will certainly plan on trying to do some heavy recruiting during orientation in the fall. If no one else signs up, then not only will the class be cancelled but I doubt they'll take another shot at a visual arts course for a while! Alas, I have gone on long enough. Thank you and good night. Matt.

Welcome, Matt!

You came to the right place. There are many wonderful lessons right here at Wet Canvas in the art-school-0nline section: http://www.wetcanvas.com/ArtSchool/index.html

We also paint projects together here. You can find out all about that at the Cafe: http://www.artistnation.com/members/paris/cafe/

Hi Matt, welcome to wetcanvas as the others have already said. I was wondering what type of 'Christian College' it is? What are you studying there? Just curious.

Amanda,

I attend Warner Southern College in Lake Wales, Florida, US. This is a Church of God (Anderson, Indiana, US) affiliated college, and I am double majoring in Church Ministries & Biblical Studies. After graduation, I am heading into youth ministry.

-Matt.

Welcome Matt,
I'm new here too and believe me you won't find a better place on the net to learn about art.

Welcome Matt
As everyone has stated, you won't find a better art instruction site than this one. Since stumbling across it over a year ago I know that I must visit it at least once if not twice a day and I always learn something useful. The wet canvas group is loving and very willing to help and offer encouragement. As far as I have been able to see, no one is ever judged on their ability or lack of abilitly...only encouraged. You will love it here and soon feel part of the family. I am also from Florida, Amelia Island

Welcome. If you have the hunger, you can find classes in almost any midium sized city. Dover Press also has many kinds of instruction books which are inexpensive. Good luck!

Matt,
Thanks for sharing that info with me, I think its great that you are wanting to be involved in that area. My husband and I are going overseas with a mission in August. I'll be teaching art at a missions school in Africa.
