RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

For those using PC's, here's how to use the website jpeg-optimizer.com to resize and compress your images ready for uploading to wetcanvas.

Here's the video showing how to resize your images:

Here's the Video showing how to use the Uploader:

NOTE: On some browsers you may have to select "all files" in the browser window to see your .jpg files otherwise it defaults to .gif files.

NOTE the maximum width and height is now 800 pixels, though I recommend a height of 600 pixels to avoid scrolling.

PS: As of 20th July the Quicklinks version of the Uploader operates identically to the "mountain icon" version.

Hope that helps.

Doug

Doug,

Thanks for not only the video showing these proceedures, but also for the intro to this interesting tool. There are many times such video illustration might be very useful on the site.

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

You can use Coral Draw and adobe photo shop for this purpose. You decrease the size and pixcel of the picture. In this way you can control the size of Image.

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

Help please. New and trying to upload my first pics. When I click the uploader I get this error message:

Notice: Undefined index: HTTP_REFERER in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\forums\includes\class_core.php on line 1575

Unable to add cookies, header already sent.
File: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\forums\includes\class_core.php
Line: 1575

also, I uploaded some images to the Gallery Manager and it said they were uploaded but they are not in my gallery.

What should I do?

Linda

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

Linda
I am not "up on the latest" news regarding the reference library but I asked on 9-22-08 why their had not been any new photos uploaded since August...usually there are new reference pics daily. I was told site administrators were aware that this part of the site was not operating since the turn over to F&W but that a technician was working on it. My thinking is that over a month later, it is still not fixed?? It is very frustrating to have this great feature not working (the searching of the reference photos has glitches also) Good luck with your uploading as I look forward to seeing all the new reference photos if/when it is working again...although I just don't see any "disscussions" on this subject, so perhaps I am in the minority of those who really miss the reference library functioning and all the new photos to enjoy....Diane

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

The Gallery Manager and the Reference Image Library uploaders are out of order.

It could be some time before they are fixed. Sorry.

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

Thanks for your replies, but I can't upload an image to the watercolor October paintings thread in the forum. I can't upload anywhere on this site. It mentions cookies, but my log-in cookie is okay. So I don't know what to do. I emailed tech support. Maybe they will have an idea. I watched your video Yorky and when I click on the image icon in this box or on the quick links image uploader, I get the same error message. (I can upload on many other sites.)

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

Sorry about the delay, my broadband is down.

Clear your cookies, and put wetcanvas in your popup blocker's white list. That usually solves the problem.

If not what browser and OS are you using?

Seems to be working for me.

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

I cleared the cookies and I now get this message:

Notice: Undefined index: HTTP_REFERER in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\forums\includes\class_core.php on line 1575
rnum=Math.round(Math.random() * 100000); document.write(''); function communityMenu(){ if(document.jump.community.options[document.jump.community.selectedIndex].value != 0) { location=document.jump.community.options[document.jump.community.selectedIndex].value; }}function channelsMenu(){ if(document.jump2.channels.options[document.jump2.channels.selectedIndex].value != 0) location=document.jump2.channels.options[document.jump2.channels.selectedIndex].value;}Step 1: Upload an Image from Your ComputerImages uploaded with this tool will be displayed in the body of the post with the URL path displayed below it.</I> Note: If your image is more than 800 pixels wide and/or 800 pixels high, when you click the upload image button, this tool will constrain it within 800x800. The image will also keep the current proportions. The resize may take a few moments to process, so please do not click the upload image button more than once.
Click Browse to select a file on your computer.
Then click Upload to upload your image to the site.

I can get an image to the uploader but when I click on the image it all goes away instead of inserting. The problem is that first "notice" line. I don't think that "C:\INETPUB" is on my computer.

I am using Windows XP and IE7. All popups allowed. Accessing from IE instead of AOL.

If you have any more ideas I'm all eyes........

Linda

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

Pity you can't get the uploader to wok. It requires a popup window. I suggest you disable any popup killer and try again.

BTW what browser and OS are you using?

I use Windows 7 with Firefox 17.

Re: RESIZING AND UPLOADING your PICTURES

Thank you for all of your advice. After insuring all popups are allowed (other popups on this site work fine) and allowing full access to WC!, and clearing cookies and temps, it seems I do not have the correct program to open this uploader. I successfully upload to many other sites.

In my posting box, the image icon has a blue box around it all of the time. When I click on it, or the quick upoloader, I get the above noted error message. I have written tech support to ask for the interpretation of the error message. Hopefully I will hear from them.

I use Windows Home scv pak 2 with IE 7. But as I said, I upload to many other sites.
