Crystals-project -=- Ready to ruuuuuummmbbbblllleeeeee

Okay, this is actually the second attempt to upload the image, the first time it was like 1024*768 and the server didn't like me all of a sudden...

Anyways, I found a good method to make those crystals in 3D Studio now and it was a bit too easy, I must say. And the method was one I used before for an assignment for a VJ (video-jockey, a person that rides videotapes...orso... n/m). Two years ago, which makes me even more sad, because this is a sign of decay. "Did I drink a beer or not? Ah, well, let's be certain and take one..."

Here you go, have a blast and when there are questions, I will assume you'll post them here... thank you for looking,

Martin.

P.s. The story of it is that a crystalline spaceship crashes on a planet's surface and well... this aint too much of feedback, but hence, at least it's something...

that look is a difficult one to achieve.. Id say your there, but I would love to see you push it even further. Take the image as a whole and break it down similar to the crystals, maybe. I also have to say.. i dig the cruves in the lines at the top of the image.

Thanks people,

Perez:
Breaking it down to only the crystals? As in: leave everything away and just keep the crystals? Hmm, sounds kewl, because the shape of the crystals should become the composition then. I have been doodling with the idea and then render some lifelike rocks and some plants around them, just to see what happens. This was nice looking, but the overall effect stayed away, even the "vah-voom" of the crystals was gone a bit.
The next steps I am working on are based on your idea:

1. A landscape where they move through
2. Just a few lines where they grow out of.

Later today I will try to post either one of them, so you can see...

Greetings,

Martin.
