Like the palette, the composition and the execution. And....I don't even want to puke :-).

Re: Woman at the beach

Is it possible to lighten the horizon to the left side of her head. It seems dark and leads the eye out of the painting too quickly. Cover it with your hand and see how it strengthens the image? Otherwise, (and even including that) I think you did a fine job!!

Re: Woman at the beach

Karl - Thanks for the kind words! Haha also very funny the puke comment

Greg -Whoa! That makes a big difference. Thank you so much. You have a good eye for composition! I am trying to focus on how I can be more flexible with my sources (whether photos or from life) to make a composition that moves the eye around better. Anyhow, great advice on that. I think it will lift easily, it was cerulean blue and burnt sienna. Maybe fade it out slightly. Thanks for the kind words : )

Re: Woman at the beach

great pose, lots of energy in it.
I like the simplicity of this and, actually, would wish for that horizon line to go away altogether. but I like it as is as well!

Josh, this is a very nice portrait and I like the palette. I also agree with the suggested changes. The other comment that was posted -

Re: Woman at the beach

Thanks Moirah! I was trying a new technique with gradual, drawn out washes in various stages of dryness with the wash .. the horizon was part of that experiment. I am trying to imagine it without that line! It was strong in the source photo but I toned it down a bit for this. Hmm .. something to consider, thanks : )

Pat Debby Kiran Mike Kathy - Thanks a lot! I have been working on my figures a lot lately .. both accurate drawings and finding mixes for flesh tones that I like. : )

Re: Woman at the beach

There's a nice looseness to this, and I love the movement you have in the figure.
