Remember D' Baja - and a pricing question

It's been a while since I've posted here on WC.
Had encountered an unfortunate incident a few weeks ago [LINK] but all is well now and I'm glad to be back on the drawing board again.

"Remember D' Baja"

10x14 inches Colored Pencil on Stretched Canvas
Photo ref: Becca Petersen (used with permission)
Note: Digital frame added

The one I'm working on the night before the incident happened. Glad to finally had time to finish it.

This is my second try with fur and first time to do it on canvas.
I tried a more loose approach with mere suggestions rather than doing it hair by hair.
The canvas adds a nice texture that goes well with the fur.
I used a scalpel to etch the whiskers and other fine hairs.

COLORED PENCILS: Koh-I-Noor Woodless and Van Gogh (No black was used)
CANVAS: Gesso primed cotton canvas stretched on a 7/8" profile wooden frame with foamboard backing.

I planning on listing this one up for sale to raise some funds but I have no idea how to price it.
Can anyone give me the lowest figure I can start with? (Frame not included)

Thanks everyone, it's nice to be back here again.

Re: Remember D' Baja

Hi, Bleuie--
So sorry to hear of your troubles and the flooding!
It's good to see you back at work on some art.

You may want to check over in the art business forum for ideas on how to price this. There have been discussions of that in the cp forum, too. I'll try to find some of the better threads. One idea about pricing that I remember is to do it by the square inch *plus* any special supplies the piece required. So for this piece, it would be 140 sq. inches times a base rate ($1.00? $2.00?) + the cost of the canvas. Your base rate needs to pay for your regular supplies (the pencils etc.), pay you for your time and talent, and maybe have some to call your profit.

I'm also changing the title of your thread so some of the artists who are selling works will see the question.

Hope this helps some and again, so very very sorry to hear of your troubles!
Rosemary

Bluie glad to see you back and see your art again. This is a very impressive piece. I would recommend you submit it to the colored pencil magazine contest. It is beautiful!

This tiger is gorgeous...don't know how you get those hairs so accurately on the canvas!
Hope you are drying out a bit more now!
