Re: Some London Scenes

Very nice work, Rob. Love the first one, & I agree the second is an excellent base for a studio version - please post if you do it!

Re: Some London Scenes

Thanks for kind words, I have seven or so pictures planned so I'll just add them to this thread as they are intended to be a loosely connected series. The final Trafalgar square should be next as I have got some more reference and sketches done there today.

Re: Some London Scenes

Nice painting and love the way you did the cars and their reflections in the first picture.

I like both but the first one is absolutely great with light and shadow.

Thanks Tim, you can't avoid cars can you, I am slowly developing a sort of system for integrating them and their shininess, cars are mostly reflections there are not many matt bits which makes them a challenge. Also they are mostly beautifully elegant in form which brings drawing difficulties, it's all too easy to end up with clumsy boxes! On the plus side they bring light and interest into shadowed areas. I'm a little concerned the first picture has become just about the cars. I tried to offset their dominance by adding the figure to compete but it still remains a bit of a car picture! It could be worse though imagine a 19th century painter doing cityscapes hundreds of horses to get right!

Both are very well painted and I love the distant view of the landscape.

Re: Some London Scenes

Thanks again! Here is the Trafalgar Square one revisited in the studio. Hard work this one rather difficult diffused light but worth a stab I thought. 1/2 sheet Arches Rough.

Great! I thought the sketches were good, but this final is amazing as well. I love your plein air work. Keep it up!
