Wow - this is harder than it looked! I have done a lot of repainting the last few days - but it is definitely coming along!

I agree Natashya - those oranges are hard!
However, you'll see it suddenly all come together nicely

Re: Different Strokes : March 2012 Challenge

I made a start on mine yesterday but have had distractions along the way - and now visitors till Tuesday. Don't think I will have time to finish it before then. I'll post it if I can finish it - otherwise I'll pop in to look at all the masterpieces.

Re: Different Strokes : March 2012 Challenge

Well I'm finished. (At least I'm at the point where I don't want to touch it for fear of ruining something!) Never painted a fabric background, so that was a real challenge for me.

I enjoyed the subject and am anxious to see what everyone has done.

Ros - it's OK if you haven't finished by 20th - you have until the end of the month and by then your visitors will have left

Robert - not only are oranges not just orange but that blue cloth is not just blue either!!

See you on 20th Carol

I echo Maureen's words Ros, Robert

And yes about blue cloth, that's the beauty of natural traditional dye, having difficulty in both myself too.

Have a nice weekend everyone, happy painting and see you all soon

Re: Different Strokes : March 2012 Challenge

Hi Everyone

I'm calling mine done. It's not very good at all but I will post it on the 20th anyways. I've been fiddling with it and it just keeps getting worse! I keep getting all discombobulated and lost in the folds! LOL I liked my oranges and then fiddled with them and now they look worse than before! Sheesh. I most definately need lots more practice!

This is a great learning experience and love the ref. Hopefully with practice, I will get better.

Hope everyone else is having success and I can't wait to see what everyone did on the 20th.

Allison

Y'know Allison, no matter how long we have been painting, or how much experience we, as individuals have, a painting is always a learning experience.

Charlie's Mum, Thanks for the encouragement about matboard. I will try without gesso and see how that works for me.

Re: Different Strokes : March 2012 Challenge

MaryPat - I've painted this month's on mountboard - no gesso ...... actually, it's a piece of blue board but it still got covered with blue paint!
The first couple of layers do sink in but don't worry just keep blocking in and the surface becomes really nice
