Finished, didnt ponder too much on the figure, concentrating on the tuba was enough. James

You were very ambitious James, but it worked out OK.

I think you could go darker with the greens. If you look at mine I put a hedge behind the scene to give more contrast.

The hedge makes a BIG difference Doug. Well Doug I think because of this exercise I'm beginning to grasp the importance of DARK against LIGHT! THANKS Doug. James

Just kidding.
Anyone can trace however personally I dislike it. I usually draw the subject on a scrap paper such as the newspaper and transfer it onto the watercolor paper. Functional and eco-friendly.
(I recycle the rough sketch after)
