Re: Announcement- repeat of first series Foundations...starting March 6th...
Thank you! I have registered for this replay of the October webinar. I tried to attend that one & got in part of one session only due to the technical difficulties. Then I could never get into the other sessions for some weird reason. I have had no trouble with other webinars, so I was really disappointed I missed yours. Looking forward to attending this one.

I would imagine we won't have the mega numbers registering this time, Donna...which might be nicer for folks during the question/answer time...
Good to have you, Donna...

But just in case, you might consider having more than one source to access. Johannes V.'s last webinar apparently had over 3000 participants, and he had maybe 3 sources.
Just my luck I'll miss the first week of yours because I'll be hanging out on the beach in Cuba!

That should be quite an experience, Wendy....enjoy that!
Yeah....Johannes has been gracious to offer help too....but my nemesis is that all the help in the world isn't going to help my life choice to live in a remote noerthern Wisconsin national forest. At home...I have Wild Blue satelite....which is about ten times faster than dial-up. At my school location are various server blocks and you never fully anticipate what you can pull up. I have an open invite at friends with high speed wifi connection...but they leave permissions open for neighbors to access meaning I may or may not have full byte space/speed.
So...whether its one form...provider or another...until we get genuine high speed uninterrupted connection...not much I can do. Our tech guy was explaining that Johannes likely enjoys a higher rate of connection speed. So, definitely advantages for me..where I live on one hand...the outdoors, wildlife...but fresh easy to acquire produce and ideal internet speeds is not one of them. My smartphone is quicker not using its wifi option... crazy

Larry, thank you for this repeat. I signed up for the earlier class, then wasn't able to follow it due to conflicts. So this is a treat for me. Thank you!

I am looking forward to this, Larry. I guess I lucked out, because I couldn't attend most of your first go around. I caught a few minutes of one session and I know I liked your relaxed, but enthusiastic style of teaching. Should be fun.

hi Larry,
Great first lecture last night...thank you! I had several questions about the homework; how many works should we analyze, do we submit it (and where), and finally, do we write a paragraph on the analysis? Thanks again, Artcat

I'll create a thread for folks that want to upload such studies...a bit later today when I have a break from teaching here..
More important to me is you demonstrate catching on to what you're looking for, then understand you need to do this for yourself, your growth and become proactive. Once you post a number of them, and I'll comment in general to everyone's participation, once folks understand the gist...don't think it will be necessary to prolong uploading and sharing, or commenting. It has to become initially a part of your personal regimen, time from painting...studying the works of those you admire, wish to emulate and learn from...and then in planning out your own to see what works from what does not...compositionally & design..

Re: Announcement- repeat of first series Foundations...starting March 6th...
I understand - thanks, Larry. In retrospect, although I've understood the principles of composition, I somehow discarded them/didn't use them with my earlier works - in other words,I just allowed my (inexperienced) intuitive art nature take control. What struck me about your lesson yesterday was that we have to master the principles first, so they provide the groundwork, then, for the intuitive process to work. So, to actively review artist's work whom I admire from the standpoint of these principles is going to help me immensely; any future paintings I start will keep these principles and elements in mind. I see now that careful planning (value, mass, and other studies of a potential work) is vital to produce a painting's success in terms of the "viewer" and artist alike. Again, thanks for making such principles and elements available to us as a logical approach to our growth as artists! Can't wait for Thursday's lecture! ~Artcat

Re: Announcement- repeat of first series Foundations...starting March 6th...
you nailed it....Artcat...and it takes intent and initiative, they say 21 days to make a habit, or end a bad one...
once the habit is built...and time passes, it slowly forms in the mind's eye and you see these things where the time sketching is not necessary. In time that knowledge and practice become part of your instinct...and you come to have good reason to trust it. At that point...you are flowing from the gut hunch...
