Re: Homework Week 1 - Essentials of Painting Waterfalls
Jonannes, love your lessons and your teaching. Thank you so much! They are gold! What a challenge with the waterfall. Pastel sticks, Rembrandt and Schmincke on Sennelier Pastel Cart, 9,5" x12,5".
Looking forward to Saturday.

Re: Homework Week 1 - Essentials of Painting Waterfalls
Jo, Thanks so much for all of you hard work preparing and presenting these classes for us. I have learned so much from you this past year.
This particular assignment was a huge challenge for me.
The photo came out very red on the computer so I tried to adjusted the color to be more accurate. I hope it works!
All I had available was and 8"x8" canvas so I had to work very small.
This is oil paints.

Re: Homework Week 1 - Essentials of Painting Waterfalls
Hello everyone, After seeing the incrediable paintings all of you have submited I was embarrased of my first one, like someone else wrote "it took a life of its own". So I gave it another shot, I will admit I used a little of this and that from the paintings here and hope I came up with my own. It is oil pencils on all media board with mineral spirits. The naked tree towards the middle was going to have a interesting branch sticking out but changed my mind. I played with it in photoshop and didn't like it, so it is naked-lol. As a beginner, I would appreciate any and all comments. Thank you all for sharing your wonderful talents-Carla

Re: Homework Week 1 - Essentials of Painting Waterfalls
I am realllllllly reluctant to post this, as you folks all have done such beautiful work. I never paint this way, I am more methodical, and "tight" (or so I am told, LOL), so I tried to do this in a couple of hours, per Jo's lessons . . . ARGH. Oil on canvas panel . . .

Re: Homework Week 1 - Essentials of Painting Waterfalls
Hi Jo - I decided to try using the pallet knife on this one to keep sharp edges on the rocks. I found your rock feedback on my painting from the student critique helpful in the execution of this one. As always, feedback is desired...
