New to forum

Hi, my name is Deb and I am a graphic designer who recently got back into fine-arts. I'm very interested in abstract art, and have been experimenting with several different mediums from pastels, to acrylic, to marker & pencil.
I enjoy abstract because my graphic design work is very structured and limits my creativity, so I like the freedom of expression I find in abstract art.

My goal is to spend the next year and a half learning and educating myself, and developing my "style" as an artist, and then when my son goes away to college, having my art to keep me distracted from the changes that will come with the empty nest syndrome.

I've been blogging just about every day about my artistic journey at debammerman dot com and have met several artists through that, I thought that a forum like this would give me an opportunity to form alliances with other artists, share information and enjoy some camaraderie... so here I am, I look forward to getting to know you.

This is a very large site with a lot going on in the forums. Be sure to check out the subject and medium forums as well as some of the special interest forums. There is something here for every artist and all levels of expertise. All are welcome, so don’t be shy about posting or starting threads.

A good place to start your WC! experience is to read some of the articles in the links found in the signature lines of some of the mods and guides - they contain some very useful information which will help you to navigate and participate in WC!
