White-Tail Buck-Scratchart
Well, I ve been too busy to start a big project, but I couldn't " not " do any art work. This is a 5 X 7 I haven't put the finishing spray on it yet, because I think I might 'colorize' it.

nice awesome work...
I have a particular love for the whitetail and would have one suggestion. Considering the level of light you have hitting the inside of his right antler and left...I'd like to see the white around the eye facing the light, the white of the side facing the light on the nose and the throat a much lighter value,
Even from great distances when deer are running full out, those white fur markings on the head and neck leap out at the viewer.
When coloring especially, like an oil painting's vedaccio or underpainting, you want to make light values lighter because their value will inherently darken from the applying of layers on top.
Wonderful job...looking forward to seeing it when finished!

very nice!
I just love those antlers - the lighting is awsome. Will be interesting to see it colorized if you go that way.
I also have to always have a project on the "table" at all times - can't not do any art! (even if I just squeeze it in here and there)
You squeezed well

Thankyou Bob, Cathy, Larry, TJ and BT, for the encouragement and kind words.
Larry, I feel honored that you took the time to look and comment on this. I admired your work so much! I will keep in mind what you said about the white patches. I guess with having the thought of 'maybe' coloring this, kept me from making it too pronounced now, so that I could color it, and then scratch in more highlights afterwards.
The show I'm involved in is tomorrow. I'm entering 2 paintings and 8 scratch pieces. I have everything ready to go, so I will work on the buck today and see what I get done.

Nice work Lorna! I really like the foreshortening of the antlers, it gives it some really nice depth. Looking forward to your colorized version too!
