Cara at twenty

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Cara at twenty
Year Created: 2003
Medium: Oil
Surface: Wood
Dimension: 16 x 12
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
This is the first time I have painted on board. It is a life oil sketch of my niece. I used a limited palette on a toned background.
(I realize there is glare on the wet paint, but it is the best photo I could get.)

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Does the expression hold your attention? I was trying to show her serenity. Is the color too limited? Thank you in advance for any and all comments- I am still new to this.

This is a lovely picture.............and to answer your questions, I think the expression is spot on.......yeah, serene I'd say, and the chosen palette conveys the mood well.

Thumbs up

Thumbs up! This piece not only got my attention but held it. The limited palette works quite well.
Thank you.

The serenity is certainly there (at first sight I thought it was Grace Kelly).

Thank you all for your feedback. It's very much appreciated. I had thought it was a bit too dark, but I liked it anyway, for some reason, and you guys just reassured me I'm on the right track.

this is really nice. limited palette paintings, imo, are like a jigsaw puzzle. once you've got the perimeter, the rest is a breeze. your pieces fit perfectly into place.
