This is my 2nd Digital Painting. Took forever to do as I am still learning Gimp Gps and My Paint. I just noticed some more mistakes in it but I'll fix them in the future. For Now it's done!! Yay lol

So what is it you guys don't like about my Painting?

I am a self taught artist and I can't improve unless I know what I'm doing wrong.

I know there are mistakes in there. I worked pretty hard on this one and thought it turned out ok??

Hello Uly,
For some reason, I missed this painting. I didn't see it until today. This is actually very beautiful! Like you, I am also a self taught artist. You did a very good job with this my friend.

The only real suggestions I can give you is to maybe working on the lighting some. The flame at the end of the board isn't really bright enough. Another thing that you might want to improve in is character proportions. His arms a little small in this painting.

Other than that, this is actually great! Keep up the good work my friend!

Hi Vanity87.... Thanks for the tips!

I have never painted flames from the space ship before and had no idea how to do it lol...I might find some other paintings of spaceships and try to copy and learn from them?

With his arms I was trying to have them pushed back with his chest pushed forward. I guess I didn't get the perspective correct and that's why he looks to have little arms It looked correct when I first drew it.

It's hard trying to learn on my own so I appreciate the feed back.

Hi ! This one lovely artwork I am a self taught artist too ...
the only thing that is bothering me is the guy's head has blurred edges and when I look at it seems like you forgot to highlight his head hehehe ...

Yeah your right! I made a big mistake of not including shadows and highlights on my drawing. When I started paint I had a heap of difficulty getting the shadows and highlights right especially around his abs and chest. It took me so long to get it right that I just finished off quickly as i had enough of painting him! I wanted to add more detail and high lights on his legs too.

I have decided to go back to doing some more studies if the human figure as this painting taught me I can't draw/paint certain parts of the human body properly yet!

There was a lot of tidying up i could have done in this painting too but it was just taking too long. Not a problem as my next paintings should be better from what i have learn't from doing this one!

Self taught artists unite! Other than the little things I pointed out, I love your style overall and I love how you colored this. You used really deep colors for this and nice shading which I'm a fan of! Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more work from you .

Thanks for the kind comments Vanity87. I'm just happy that I seem to be improving with each painting or drawing that I do. My main interest is learning how to shade properly at the moment.

Keep up the good work with your digital art too...I just love the way you painted the eyes in both your paintings... they just draw me in!

w00t! iv been busy all day everyday this week... *sigh*
anyways! ...yea I love the color too... his abs are pretty hoT!!! ..wish i have those abs.. but make it feminine coz im a She .LOL! ...and Gawd!! Uly your makin me envy I wish I could dedicate all my time and effort in painting,..I can't do paintings now.. or drawings, I stopped for awhile been busy studying for the boards.. and trying to plan on saving up to buy a better tablet..that has more pen pressure... I want that cintiq 21ux T____T ...does anyone else want it too? raise your hands ^,...,^

Self taught here too. Most have stated the obvious, so I won't beat a dead horse. My only suggestion is buying "dynamic figure drawing" by Burne Hogarth. Lot's of stuff like foreshortening, perspective, stuff like that. Also might look at bodybuilders sites. Shoot for the middle. Good job on this one by the way!

I have Dynamic Anatomy by Burne Hogarth....his books are awesome. I really need to spend more time studying his methods of anatomy.
