Just a few paintings, indirect method

Here are a few painting recently completed using an indirect method, a drawing, toned canvas, color layer, finishing detail and texture layers.

The mixtures used in these works was Venetian Turpentine 50%, stand oil 50%, and a little linseed oil. In the cup I also added 2 drops of cobalt drying sycatint (sic). This is a toxic addition, so use gloves if you handle your paint.

Re: Just a few paintings, indirect method

Delmus, this is the first time I have come across you on the boards. Wow! Breathtaking work! Thank you for sharing your work and methods. I had not heard of the indirect method before.
And you are right about Wetcanvas being a nice place on the internet to hang out. Hard thing to find these days!
Hopefully we will see you around more often.🙂

Re: Just a few paintings, indirect method

I did forget something! I usually put in a few process shots so folks can see the brush work and how its done sort of thing. Here are a few of the last painting above, "stairway to heaven"

Paint is applied to the canvas

Some blending takes place, usually with a filbert

final blending with a mop or fan brush to soften and eliminate all brush strokes but a few.

A picture in relation to some random dude to give an idea of size.

The original photos were taken sideways, but I have rotated them for viewing on my computer. Not sure why they remain lazy and are laying down sideways here. Must be a meta tag thing.
