Glass dip pens?

My husband gifted me with a glass dip pen that is clearly from either China or Japan. The only words in English on the box are "m.x made" "handmade glass pen" and "glass pen" I have had little luck with getting it to write or draw or make any sort of line really. I have tried both calligraphy and fountain pen ink.

Do I need a different ink? Is there some sort of prep that glass pens require to get them to draw?

It is this type of pen

Re: Glass dip pens?

Did you wash it with warm water and soap? Also.. no .. no need of a special ink.
"no no! You are doing it all wrong, in the internet we are supposed to be stubborn, inflexible and arrogant. One cannot simply be suddenly reasonable and reflexive in the internet, that breaks years of internet tradition as a medium of anger, arrogance, bigotry and self entitlement. Damm these internet newcomers being nice to to others!!!"

Re: Glass dip pens?

There are several good YouTube videos about using them with ink or liquid watercolor. Here are a few:
