Sandie: I like all of your paintings but I get the sense of joy from the the yellow flowers. Love it.
Monarch: Your lemons are just beautiful. They look 3D the way you've handled the shadows and background.
Vivian: Lovely, crisp painting.
Christel: The pigeon is wonderful, such great detail.

Re: May Watermedia Challenge

I wish I would have had more time this month but it's been a busy one. Finally spent some time today finishing this off.

Here's my attempt at the Cockatoo. First attempt at feathers....need to work on that Watercolour on Arches cold press paper 9X13".

Sanlynn: You did such a beautiful job on the Cockatoo- I tried him 2x and mucked him up badly! Love all the color you found in his feathers - would hang this on my wall in a heartbeat - he looks like such a character!

Such a delightful and charming cockatoo, Sanlynn, and love all the colors you've squeezed into its white feathers.

Re: May Watermedia Challenge

Hi all,

thanks for remembering me also to looks into this challenge CaliAnn.
And also for providing such a beautiful set of images for this month.
And your cat painting is great, she seems to smile and looks like a happy cat.

A lot of great paintings here, too many to comment on every one.

I chose the butterfly. Not everything worked as planned and I got some defects in the paper. So I just post it as it is now. WC on Arches paper (30x40cm)

C&C always welcome

Esther

What a dreamy, gorgeous and delightful background all set to display these lovelies! Nice and soft texture, too. Superb rendering Esther.

Esther: This is beautiful. I agree with Kay, such a soft dreamy look to this painting - everything about it feels light and airy - gorgeous!

Re: May Watermedia Challenge

I think I finally understand the meaning of "If your painting look like it's been done by a 5 years old, you are doing it right" in some of the tutorial that I been watching...

Pick this scene because it's simple and more foliage practice... and also the 1st time painting clouds..

thanks, I still have some trouble with foliage, mainly creating layers, the layers on the tree turn out great but the foliage on the right is just a blob... as far as i know I painted both the same way and both of them turn out very differently..

well I guess thats means I need more practice..

Re: May Watermedia Challenge

Sanlynn, wow your Cockatoo looks amazing. Love those colours.
Esther beautiful butterfly & flowers
Calvin really good effort on the lake scene.A few tips for you if you don´t mind me poking my nose in! it would look great if you darken down the left foreground grasses to lead the eye into the painting. Also the tufts of water grasses are all the same size. They should get smaller & less defined as they go away from the viewer. That goes for the grass generally.Less definition in the far grasses.
