Spring in the forest

This is what I have been experimenting with. Loose impression of a swampy area behind the house. Wanted to capture the reflections.
C&C please and thank you for looking. Arches cold press 14x20 140 lb.

Re: Spring in the forest

Thatís excellent Suzanne. You have captured the reflections beautifully. Not easy to do. Pitfall is to over complicate and you havenít. The colours are very harmonious too. Well done.

Re: Spring in the forest

Your spring looks wet and that is the intention. The painting is good, clean, and very well done.

Re: Spring in the forest

Thank you all so much for your encouraging comments. I am enjoying capturing the landscape with these broader strokes and simple washes..On to the next.

Re: Spring in the forest

I think you've accomplished your goal very well. It's almost impressionistic!

Re: Spring in the forest

Thank you Kate. I am encouraged to explore this different way for me express what I see. It's funny but seeing the two pictures together like this I keep seeing things I missed or ways to correct it...maybe I will try again. I'm certainly happy to have everyone's feedback

Re: Spring in the forest

I like it, Suzanne! I'm hoping to stretch myself as well, and you've given me some inspiration to do that (hopefully with your success!).

I would describe your impression as somewhat "angular," which gives this peaceful setting a bit of an "edge," at least to me.

Keep pushing forward -- you're gaining great mileage as you try new things!

Frank

Re: Spring in the forest

Thank you Frank for the encouragement. The peaceful setting does have an edge...those blue sky reflections..which inspired the painting. I find the sky just about throws anything at us these days...we gotta be careful. My cat jumped on my paint tray today....now there's a challenge on my next painting..
Thank you Ernst...you both do lovely paintings....lets keep at it!

Excellent painting! Like it, especially the blue light in the reflections.
