Wednesday Already. My how time flies.

Time to start a new daily.
Here is a shot from Sunday's photo shoot with the camera club. There are more photos in a separate thread in the Darkroom forum.

Hood ornament from a Packard Car.

Dave, you should be pretty happy for the USA Women's Soccer team. Poor Thailand. I felt so bad for them getting crushed like that, 13-0!

Hope you are all having a good week.

LORELL

Hey Lorell, I love the colors in this shot!

Hi to those who visit later.

Soccer talk follows, so to those not into soccer, please forgive me.

Yes, the USA women had an amazing game. I expected USA to win 5-0 or 5-1; certainly not 13-0. 5 goals by Alex Morgan tied the World Cup single game record of the legendary Michelle Akers, 2 goals each by Rose Lavelle and Samantha Mewis, 1 goal each by Lindsey Horan, Mallory Pugh, captain Megan Rapinoe, and veteran Carli Lloyd. Kelly O'Hara showed great defensive hustle and attacking passes, Julie Ertz had her usual strong performance, and Tobin Heath kept winning balls and consistently leaving defenders looking helpless. But looking past the obvious stars of this game, I have to single out two players in particular: 1) Megan Rapinoe (one of the oldest players on the team) played all 90 + minutes and never slowed down; there were 3 or 4 plays when she continued to go all out, long after the game was well in hand, regularly beating younger and/or less driven players to the ball; and 2) Carli Lloyd, who came in as a late sunstitute and immediately showed her toughness and skill with several take-aways and numerous shots on goal, and her goal was deceptively impressive as she received and controlled the ball, easily dodged one or two defenders, and calmly scored with a difficult "outside-of -the-foot" shot that she made look easy.

I'll leave the debate over running up the score against a weaker team to others; I can see valid points on both sides of that issue.

But this marked the end of round one of group play, so there's a long way to go. After this first round, I thought some teams underperformed (Germany, Australia, Japan, Canada, Sweden) while others looked good (USA, France, China, Argentina, Scotland). I think we're in for some more surprises and both good and bad soccer, but most of the top teams should advance out of group play.

Have yourselves a great day or night, folks.
