Hails from United Kingdom
A59 Project

OK if I start this thread it will make sure I get on with this project which I have been thinking of since Dave de Armond (manfrommerriam) painted every county in Kansas then present day scenes from the 1916 Midland Trail through Kansas.

Starting In Liverpool I intend to follow the route of the A59 north through Ormskirk to Preston then east through the beautiful Ribble Valley to Skipton, Knaresborough and on to York. I intend to paint landmarks and scenery along the route. Some will be from Street View scenes, others from my own photographs. I don't intend to follow the actual modern road but will follow the original route through towns omitting by-passes and not painting only scenes that can be seen from the road but include landmarks in the towns on the way.

Google Maps:

I'll start at the Liverpool Pier Head with the Liver Building then the Kingsway Tunnel entrance, and a few more landmark buildings in Liverpool before starting to follow the A59 north.

It will be quite a task, but it will mean I don't have to think too hard what to paint and we'll have a few days out looking for subjects along the route so it will be quite enjoyable. I'm not sure whether to do full on paintings or pen and wash sketches yet.

EDIT: I'm adding a list of locations as I think of them.
