Women Artists of the World site hijacked/defunct?

Today I was deleting some old accounts I no longer use, and "womenartistsoftheworld" dot com was on the list of those to go. I went to the site and all it was anymore was blinking flashing Asian writing. I figured the site no longer exists as it once was! No way to delete the account though, now. I googled it and found only old mentions of it and a Facebook page that also seemed to have been taken over. No art anymore just crap about "chemtrails" and other garbage. Was anyone else a member there? If so, do you know when it went down? I thought I'd updated my info on it within the last year, but not sure. Glad I never put anything important there. Very little personal info, and only images that were small and prominently watermarked. Deleted my Google Plus account and one other, too.

as an aside - I had a domain name that I kept for many years but never put it to use. So not wanting to pay the registration charges each year for something I wasn't using - gave it up. THen a few months later thought of something it might be good for so went to see if it was still available - It was - for $2,500.! Someone bought it just to flip it.

Yep, that happens a lot. Thing is just because they list it for that price doesn't mean someone will pay it. I have tons of domains with godaddy that I bought thinking I'll use them some day (RIGHT) and that godaddy keeps encouraging me to put up for auction. And they give a suggested price. Then I go and look up how successful these auctions are. Pretty much they aren't, mostly just squatters are successful, and that's dicey, because in some states it's illegal. Anyway, all this is to say don't feel bad. You probably didn't actually miss anything by letting them go and you gained what you are no longer paying to keep registering them. I'm gradually letting mine go and resisting buying any more.
