Hails from Wales

I recently restarted painting (and returned to WC) after a gap of far too many years.

I decided that a few still life paintings might be a good way to ease myself back into things, so I grabbed a few objects that were to hand and had a go. The biggest, and probably best, of my attempts so far has been a collection of candles, painted in acrylics on A3 paper (a bit bigger than my usual size, but still feeling slightly cramped).

As usual, I was aiming for a fairly impressionistic rendition of the scene rather than a particularly realistic one, but I think I ended up a bit closer than I was expecting. I've attached photos of the painting and the actual collection of candles here for comparison.

I'm fairly pleased with the result given that it's more or less my first painting for nearly a decade.
