Re: Tanya WIP

Hi there. Thanks a lot for your support
Sorry but I am having internship now, and I'm not home for most post.
However, I can tell about my tools. I have learnt much, from some past drafts and only very soft pastel pencils work, on Pastelmat. I am using Derwent Pastel (90pc), and keep away Pit Pastel (honfleur arbor) because too hard!
This paper is wonderful for portraits, to my opinion. But I had to master this type of paper to reach for the result you're watching now.
More to follow, once I'm back.
Very glad to see my little Tanya, being so appreciated!!!

Re: Tanya WIP

Made a visite at your website but i am not That good with french. For those details you need verry sharp point, how do you manage That. I have Always a stump point when i use my pencilsharpers.

Hi pat71,
To answer your pretty interesting question, I would say Forget about sharpener, specially for soft pastel like Derwent. I have ruined a lot then, I took radical direction with using blades! It does work perfectly but, on the other hand one must give time for accurate sharpening for all teints blended.
That's my advice. For color pencils, sharpener is still ok.
Good luck,

Re: Tanya WIP

hello
wonderful progress .

the shadow edge from the bonnet brim is very straight and sharp ...
to my eye , the features lose dimension because of that .

good to read your into about the pencils and surface . !

Re: Tanya WIP

Hi, this is my little contribution for this week. I do know it's not much but, I should find some more time to dedicate to my WIP this long coming weekend...

By the way I'm not very happy with the tint of the hat. Needs more grey tons to me and will be corrected.
