F&W filed for bankruptcy

ADMIN ETA: March 18

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you know that it is business as usual and that the company is not shutting down. Hope you are all well and apologies for any delay.

Thanks,

Courtney

See Cafe Guerbois for the not much information, and the suggestion to think about a backup plan.

Though I haven't been here much for the last few months, I would hate to not have this group any more. I've learned all of what I know on wet canvas. Having you all as critters, as well as having the opportunities to see your works is important to my--our growth.
Of course the OP said don't panic, but consider back-up plans.
I'd be interested in an email exchange of photos of paintings for crit and support.

Re: F&W filed for bankruptcy

Where are we all going when wet canvas shuts down? Apparently there's only enough money for another month or two. one suggestion was using MyBB you get the same look and feel and usability as WC. Here is the link:
https://mybb.com/ another was f book. I won't go there...

There was also a suggestion about sub-reddit forums.

And of course, to do an email exchange for news, support, and crits, we'd need to exchange email atdresses. Anybody else interested?

Re: F&W filed for bankruptcy

It is heart-wrenching to think we may not have this wonderful, creative website for much longer. It has been life-changing for so many of us on our art journeys...there have been great friendships made here. Though no one is exactly sure how F&W's bankruptcy will impact WetCanvas, it would be wise to consider exchanging email addresses with those you wish to be in touch with (through private messaging only for your safety), just in case the site is shut down. It is a sad and lonesome feeling to think we may not have this amazing resource for much longer. I consider so many of you very good friends of mine. You all are like family.

Please don't lose hope for WetCanvas yet...we don't know for sure that it will be shut down. Only time will tell. I would love to see it stay put...I've been on this site for almost 11 years...it's like a part of my life. I know many of you feel the same way. We'll see where it goes....

Re: F&W filed for bankruptcy

I just posted this to the BACK-UP sites thread in the Cafe Guerbois:
Another possibility is the internet archive, mentioned by Grinningbudgie in post 39. I have no idea how to approach them, or anything else about it, but here's some info:
330 billion web pages
20 million books and texts
4.5 million audio recordings (including 180,000 live concerts)
4 million videos (including 1.6 million Television News programs)
3 million images
200,000 software programs

To learn more, go to https://www.dailykos.com/stories/201...paign=trending

Today we have 20+ years of web history accessible through the Wayback Machine and we work with 450+ library and other partners through our Archive-It program to identify important web pages.

There's a SIGN-UP HERE link on that page. Perhaps the mods, or those who know how, will post our pages to that site soon.

Re: F&W filed for bankruptcy

The artists did wc at first and suggested we pay a small fee each instead of selling, maybe someone has the way/desire to do that again.

Re: F&W filed for bankruptcy

As you can see by the updated post (the first post of this thread), it appears that WetCanvas is not shutting down, and things are to continue as normal. I, for one, am thrilled to have learned this today!
