Ignore the red background, its easier for me to paint the canvas a darker colour so the chalk lines show up..lol. but looking for comments on the wood - any comments would be welcome. The rope/background and etc will be done later in parts.

The wood and the rope looks good so far.

One thing got my attention: The rim of the boat (I am not sure what it is called) in the picture is bending downwards towards the back. That gives the indication of our horizon is below the rim and we won't see the inside of the boat. On your painting it goes straight. Perhaps you mean to change it later. I would suggest painting as in the picture; it will be nicer, more expressive.

Unfortunately this forum is not very active. More experienced artists can give you better feedback. Hopefully, they will stop by.

The top edge of the boat does need to go up as in the photo. If not the view angle is changed and the boat appears to angled upward. Like the way it is going.
