Inspired by a couple of our State Parks

I love visiting our state parks, and thought I'd share a couple of small soft pastel paintings inspired by them.

When the Light Falls, 7 x 5 inches on UArt 600 grit, inspired by South Mountains State Park.

Hidden Beauty, 5 x 7 inches on Pastelmat, inspired by William B. Umstead State Park.

Thanks for looking!

Oh, these are both beautiful, Tammy! I especially love the flickers of light in the trees in the second painting! What beautiful settings. Do you ever plein air at the parks?

These are beautiful. You captured the movement of the waterfall well. In both pieces I like how you handled the greens. Nicely done with both pieces.

Love these! I am not much of landscape painter so really admire those who do it so beautifully.

Re: Inspired by a couple of our State Parks

Thanks so much everyone for all the very kind comments! I do paint en plein air sometimes at our local parks since that's really the best way for me to learn how to handle the overwhelming volume of greens in my corner of the world (southeastern US).
