linda...always do your finish first...then get the putty to match the stain. framing supply places have all the colors of the rainbow, even golds, and they can all be mixed to get the right shade. of course if you're doing a wood stain, you could find the right putty color at the hardware store.

Seems a good idea to me and with so many pros around must be feasible.
I for one am allways in need of good ideas and advice framing as it is too expensive for me to have them done as I would want it.
And I am sure there must be some cheap and clever ways that I haven't thought of.
BTW do many of you do your own framing?
I usually do it from scratch, not because I make such nice frames but out of sheer necessity.

Dick

Linda

Matching the putty after the staining is a great idea. Alternately, if it is too late for that, stain the putty a few times before the finished staining. Most putty will hold several coats of stain often requiring only one final stain for the overall finish

I don't know if we need a frame/framing channel, but I would love to see some lessons/demos about how to frame a painting.
I have been reading all the posts about framing, frames, mats and stuff... and sorry I don't get it! I don't understand it... I need to see some kind of demo.
How about an article? With photos? I am lost here...

I will second that thought Anne....there could be a series of articles....framing oil/acrylic, pastels, watercolors....differences, materials used. I'm confused too!! Also supply places on the net would be of interest.

Thanks in advance to all you framers!!

Nancy
