Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 13

Thank you, Jake. I do bring my camera everywhere now.

Mike, looking forward to see the rest. I'm intrigued by the very black background.

Some doodles.

My middle one at the dentist.

Tomorrow is the last of my figure drawing class and hopefully, I'd be able to come up with something worth looking at.

Here are some of the final pieces of the drawing fundamental classes. These are on 20x26 inch paper more or less. The instructor wanted us to draw them big.

Copying the master to learn shading techniques

A lot of measuring and shading techniques

For figure drawing it was equally tough. The first few weeks, we had to draw so lightly that we could hardly see it ourselves and a lot of measuring. I was wilting. And then we had to do these with colored pencils and only these two weeks we are putting them altogether. But I think the gesturing really helped me do my animals and sizing things up quickly.

Nice figures and I love your shape drawings.

Here is where I am on the cat. It seams like I spent a lot of time fluffing the fur for a 3d look. I still have a lot to do to finish.

Mike, I do like the blades of grass in the background. It lightens it up so well already.

I went to the painting retreat today. It's a full 8 hours affair and I'm exhausted but it's very pretty. Nevertheless, I don't think I'm going back tomorrow. I just don't have that energy level anymore.

Thanks Sandra, I was really focusing on adding depth to my normally flat paintings.

I still love your ink work.

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 13

Thank you, Mike.

Today, I went out to the beach with my boys and took Stillman & Birn Delta and Alpha 5.5x8.5 inch hardbound sketchbooks with me.

These are Daniel Smith watercolor and mostly Primatek.

The first one has Kimberly watercolor pencils as starters.

Creatures from rock formations

The light drizzle this morning accentuated the granulation of these watercolors.
